Jiancheng Roundabout Introduction
In the development history of the old city of Taipei, the "Jiànchéng Circle" plays an important role. The establishment at that time was like the heart of the Dadaocheng vibrant area, located at the convergence of four roads: Chongqing North Road, Nanjing West Road, Ningxia Road, and Tianshui Road. It not only promoted local commercial prosperity and expanded to the surrounding old Jiànchéng area but also served as a cradle for many successful business people. After several historical changes, from the early discovery of the Dadaocheng Circle air raid water reservoir monument during the foundation excavation work in 2002, to the memory of delicious food linked to Jiànchéng Circle, it has now transformed into an urban oasis. In addition to preserving the original ancient well, it will create a fountain for relaxation and an urban shaded plaza. Combining with the donation of four public art pieces from a foundation to commemorate the past and look to the future, it allows busy citizens to cultivate their minds and bodies through art, increasing cultural dialogue with citizens, and providing space for relaxation, play, and remembrance, contributing to the prosperity and development of the western district.
