Jiancheng Roundabout Introduction
In the historical development of the old city area of Taipei, the "Jiancheng Circle" has played an important role. Its establishment was like the heart of the Dadaocheng bustling area, located at the intersection of four roads: Chongqing North Road, Nanjing West Road, Ningxia Road, and Tianshui Road. It not only drives the prosperity of local commerce and industry, expanding to the surrounding old Jiancheng area, but also serves as a cradle for many successful entrepreneurs. Through various historical changes, from the discovery of the Dadaocheng Circle air raid water reservoir during the foundation excavation of the reconstruction project in 2002 to the culinary memories associated with Jiancheng Circle, it has transformed into an urban oasis. In addition to preserving the original ancient well, a fountain for leisure and an urban green square will be created, coupled with four public art installations donated by a foundation to commemorate the past and envision the future. This allows busy citizens to cultivate their bodies and minds through art, increase cultural dialogue with the citizens, and provide space for relaxation, play, remembrance, and nostalgia, contributing to the prosperity and development of the Western District.
