Jiancheng Roundabout Introduction
In the historical development of the old city area of Taipei, the "Jiancheng Circle" plays an important role. Its establishment was like the heart of the Dadaocheng bustling district, located at the convergence of four roads: Chongqing North Road, Nanjing West Road, Ningxia Road, and Tianshui Road. It not only propelled local commercial prosperity, expanding into the surrounding old Jiancheng area but also became a cradle for many successful entrepreneurs. Through various historical changes, from the discovery of the Dadaocheng Air Raid Water Reservoir monument during the excavation for reconstruction in 2002 to the culinary memories associated with Jiancheng Circle, it has transformed into an urban oasis. Besides preserving the original ancient well, plans are in place to create a fountain, leisure spots, and urban green squares. Additionally, in collaboration with a foundation, four public art pieces will be donated to commemorate the past while looking towards the future, allowing busy citizens to indulge in art, nurture their minds and bodies, enhance cultural dialogue with fellow citizens, and provide spaces for relaxation, play, and remembrance, all contributing to the prosperity and development of the west district.
