Jiancheng Roundabout Introduction
In the development history of the old city area of Taipei, "Jiànchéng Circle" plays an important role. The establishment at that time was like the heart of the Dadaocheng bustling area, located at the convergence of four roads: Chongqing North Road, Nanjing West Road, Ningxia Road, and Tianshui Road. It not only spurred local commercial prosperity but also expanded to the surrounding old Jiànchéng area, becoming a cradle for many successful business people. Through historical changes, from the discovery of the Dadaocheng air raid shelter reservoir monument during the foundation excavation of the reconstruction project in 2002, to Jiànchéng Circle, which evokes many memories of culinary delights for many people. Today, Jiànchéng Circle has transformed into an urban oasis, retaining the original ancient well, and will feature a fountain for relaxation and an urban shaded plaza. It will also combine four public art installations donated by a foundation to commemorate the past and look toward the future, allowing busy citizens to cultivate body and mind through art, enhancing cultural dialogue with the community, and providing space for relaxation, play, and remembrance, contributing to the prosperity and development of the West District.
