Jiancheng Roundabout Introduction
In the historical development of the old city area of Taipei, the "Jiancheng Circle" plays an important role. Its establishment was akin to the heart of the Dadaocheng bustling district, located at the convergence of four streets: Chongqing North Road, Nanjing West Road, Ningxia Road, and Tianshui Road. It not only boosted local business prosperity but also expanded to the surrounding old Jiancheng area, serving as a cradle for many successful entrepreneurs. Amidst historical changes, from the discovery of the Dadaocheng Air Raid Water Reservoir relic during the foundation excavation of the reconstruction project in 2002, to the culinary memories of the Jiancheng Circle, it has undergone a transformation. Today, the Jiancheng Circle has become an urban oasis. In addition to preserving the original ancient well, it will feature a fountain for relaxation and a green urban plaza. Coupled with four public art installations donated by a foundation, it aims to commemorate the past while looking toward the future, allowing busy citizens to engage with art, nurture their body and mind, and foster cultural dialogue. This space will provide areas for relaxation, play, remembrance, and reflection, collectively contributing to the prosperity and development of the western district.
