International Bookstore (Old Site) Introduction
Hsieh Hsueh-hung studied at Shanghai University and later went to Moscow for further studies. Following the directives of the Communist International, she returned to Taiwan to develop organizations and, as a cover, decided to run a bookstore while introducing communist ideas. The International Bookstore was established in 1929, primarily selling leftist ideological publications, and also served as a secret contact point for the left-wing Taiwanese Communists. During the February 28 Incident, the International Bookstore played an important role as a communication channel for the Taiwanese Communist Party, having direct or indirect connections with the 27th Regiment and related revolutionary groups.
