Breezy Canal Introduction

The Breeze Canal is an internationally recognized waterway designed for competitive events, currently managed and maintained by the New Taipei City Government's High Ground Engineering Management Office. It has a total length of 1,200 meters, a width of 140 meters, and a depth of 3 meters, comprising 8 lanes with a width of 13.5 meters each, in accordance with international standards, making it suitable for hosting international rowing and kayak sprint competitions. In addition to serving athletes and students, some areas of calm water are also open to the public for activities such as sailing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, and canoeing. 1. Activities within the Breeze Canal: The canal spans 1,250 meters in length, 140 meters in width, and a depth of 3.5 meters, with two main categories of activities permitted: - The first category comprises recreational activities for public experience and use (such as canoeing, windsurfing, and water skiing); - The second category is competitive training for athletes (including sprint kayaking, Western-style rowing, and dragon boating). Recreational usage zones are as follows: the canoeing experience area is from -100 to 0 meters, the windsurfing experience area is from 0 to 500 meters, and the water skiing experience area is from 500 to 1,000 meters. The competitive category is allowed in the range from 0 to 1,000 meters. 2. Usage hours for activities in the Breeze Canal: The operating hours are divided into daylight saving time (from April to October) and standard time (from November to March). During daylight saving time, competitive training for athletes occurs from 5:30 AM to 8:30 AM and from 4:30 PM to 7 PM, while leisure activities are allowed from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. In standard time, competitive training occurs from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM and from 3:30 PM to 6 PM, with leisure activities allowed from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. 3. Services and regulations for water activities at the Breeze Canal: A water activity center is located under the Changlu Bridge, managing water use, assisting with public insurance, and equipment rentals. Restrooms and changing rooms are also available for public and athlete use. Before engaging in water activities at the Breeze Canal, the public must visit the water activity center to obtain insurance and wear life jackets. Users are required to adhere to the designated usage zones and operating hours. Long-term training units must apply for usage through the New Taipei City Government's High Ground Engineering Management Office, and on-site supervision by a coach is required for training in the water.
