Breezy Canal Introduction
The Windy Canal is an internationally competitive waterway, currently managed and maintained by the New Taipei City Government's High-Altitude Land Engineering Management Office. It is 1,200 meters long, 140 meters wide, and has a depth of 3 meters, divided into 8 waterways. The width of the boat lane is 13.5 meters, which meets international standards, allowing for international rowing competitions and flatwater kayaking races. In addition to being available for athletes and students, some still water areas are also open to the general public for activities such as windsurfing, paddleboarding, and kayaking. 1. Scope of water sports activities at the Windy Canal: The Windy Canal is 1,250 meters long, 140 meters wide, and 3.5 meters deep. The activities allowed in these waters are divided into two main categories: the first category includes recreational activities (kayaking, paddleboarding, water skiing) for public experience and use; the second category includes competitive activities (sprint kayaking, Western-style rowing, dragon boating) for athlete training. The recreational activity usage area: the kayaking experience zone is from -100 to 0 meters, the paddleboarding experience zone is from 0 to 500 meters, and the water skiing experience zone is from 500 meters to 1,000 meters. The competitive activity usage area is from 0 to 1,000 meters. 2. Usage times for activities at the Windy Canal: The usage times are divided into daylight saving time (April to October) and standard time (November to March). During daylight saving time, the training hours for competitive athletes are from 5:30 AM to 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM, while the recreational usage time is from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM; during standard time, training hours for competitive athletes are from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM and 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM, while the recreational usage time is from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. 3. Related services and regulations for water activities at the Windy Canal: Under the Changlu Bridge, there is a water sports center that manages water usage, assists with public insurance and equipment rental, and provides washing and changing facilities for the public and athletes. Before participating in water activities at the Windy Canal, members of the public are required to obtain insurance at the water sports center and wear life jackets before entering the water. They must also adhere to the specified usage areas and times. Long-term training organizations must apply to the New Taipei City Government's High-Altitude Land Engineering Management Office for usage, and a coach must supervise on-site training.
