Sh要ai Island Wetlands Introduction

The wetland at the head of Shezi Island, as the name suggests, is located at the junction of the Keelung River and the Tamsui River. Although it covers only 1 hectare, it truly offers a great view! This headland was created by the Taipei City Government using the earth excavated from the Keelung River. The area is lush with greenery and features stone paths and wooden walkways, making it easy for visitors to access the viewing platform. The viewing platform is often crowded with anglers, and it's an excellent spot for watching the junction of the Keelung River and Tamsui River as well as their confluence into the sea. The expansive view offers a 270-degree panorama of the rivers. To the right, one can see the bustling Guandu Temple and the imposing Guandu Bridge, while to the left stands the majestic Guanyin Mountain. Occasionally, little egrets dart across, creating a picturesque landscape! On the left side of the platform is a dense mangrove wetland, resonating with the wetland of Guandu Nature Park across the river. During low tide, one can spot fiddler crabs peeking out, composing a symphony of mangrove ecology.
