Shezi Island Wetlands Introduction

Shezi Island Wetland, as the name suggests, is located at the tip of the island where the Keelung River and Tamsui River converge. Although it covers only 1 hectare, it is indeed a place to enjoy the views! This tip was created by the Taipei City Government using the dredged soil from the Keelung River, resulting in a vibrant piece of land filled with lush green grass. Stone paths and wooden boardwalks have been established to facilitate public access to the viewing platform. The viewing platform is always crowded with fishing enthusiasts, and it serves as an excellent location to observe the confluence of the Keelung River and Tamsui River as they flow into the sea. From this vantage point, one can enjoy a magnificent 270-degree view of the river scenery. To the right, one can see the bustling Guandu Temple and the imposing Guandu Bridge, while to the left looms the majestic Guanyin Mountain, occasionally graced by the sight of egrets flying by—creating a picturesque landscape akin to a traditional Chinese painting. On the left side of the platform, a dense mangrove wetland mirrors the wetland of Guandu Nature Park across the river. During low tide, one can also spot fiddler crabs peeking out, composing a symphony of mangrove ecosystem.
