Shezi Island Wetland Introduction

The wetland at the head of Shezi Island, as the name suggests, is located at the confluence of the Keelung River and the Tamsui River. Although it covers only 1 hectare, it truly offers a great view! This headland was created by the Taipei City Government using soil excavated from the Keelung River dredging, resulting in a sandy area with lush green grass. Stone paths and wooden walkways have been constructed to facilitate public access to the viewing platform. The platform is always crowded with fishing enthusiasts, and it provides an excellent vantage point for observing the confluence of the Keelung River and the Tamsui River as they flow into the sea. The panoramic view stretches 270 degrees, with the bustling Guandu Temple on the right and the grand Guandu Bridge ahead. To the left, the majestic Guanyin Mountain rises in the distance, while occasional little egrets flit about, creating a picturesque landscape! To the left of the platform is a dense mangrove wetland, echoing the wetlands of the Guandu Nature Park across the river. During low tide, the wetland reveals fiddler crabs peeking out, composing a symphony of the mangrove ecosystem.
