Sanjiao Ferry Port Introduction
Sanjiao Ferry is located in a place known as Hougangqian. Hougangqian serves as a connection between Shezi Island, Jiantan, and Dalongdong (Dalong Pump). As the land was cultivated and villages formed, the dependence on street towns gradually became significant. Besides serving as a link between the towns, Sanjiao Ferry also functions as a harbor where local residents gather their boats for livelihood. They engage in agriculture on land, raise ducks by the river, and fish and dig clams in the river, which are essential ways for them to make a living. However, due to river management efforts, the pier function has gradually diminished and disappeared over time. The history of Sanjiao Ferry bears witness to the changes in the Tamsui River, making it a site of great historical significance. Currently, only about ten wooden boats remain at Sanjiao Ferry, quietly narrating the past of the ferry wharf. The heritage is preserved by Mr. A-Zheng, who comes from a boat-building family in Jiantan Sanjiao Ferry, learned boat building at seventeen, has crafted nearly 300 wooden boats and 100 dragon boats, and is one of the few traditional dragon boat craftsmen in Taiwan. His skills are passed down, cultural seeds are sown, and the memories of the riverside can continue, igniting passion once again at Sanjiao Ferry. Highlighted features include a public waterfront pier, wooden boats and dragon boats, a base for dragon boat construction, and the national treasure dragon boat craftsman Mr. Liu Qingzheng.
