Yuan Shan Water God Shrine Introduction
Yuan Shan Water Shrine is located opposite Jian Tan Station on the MRT, next to the Yang Ming branch of the Water Supply Corporation. Following the concrete stairs to the side of the water reservoir, you will find Yuan Shan Water Shrine, which retains its original stone lanterns, name tablet, water basin, and a pair of guardian Komainu statues. This shrine is a remnant from the Japanese colonial period, with its structure largely preserved and conveniently located near a MRT station. However, due to its lesser-known status, it rarely receives visitors. Inside, there is a raised area known as the "Yuan Shan Reservoir," which serves as an important hydraulic node in the "Grass Mountain Waterway System." Although Yuan Shan Water Shrine is only a road away from the Shilin commercial district, it is a tranquil place that exudes an ancient, mysterious, and relaxed atmosphere.
