Yuanshan Shinto Shrine Introduction

Yuanshan Water Shrine is located across from JianTan MRT Station, next to the Yangming Branch of the Water Supply Company. Following the concrete steps leads you to the water reservoir, where you can see the Yuanshan Water Shrine, which retains the original stone lanterns, the shrine name stele, the water basin, and a pair of guardian lion-dogs. This shrine is a remnant from the Japanese colonial period, and its layout is largely well-preserved, situated conveniently near the MRT station. However, because it is lesser-known, it rarely sees visitors. Inside, there is a high area called the "Yuanshan Reservoir," which is an important hydraulic node in the "Caoshan Waterway System." Although Yuanshan Water Shrine is only a street away from the Shilin commercial district, it is a tranquil place that exudes an ancient, mysterious, and relaxing atmosphere.
