Yuan Shan Water God Temple Introduction
Yuanshan Water Shrine is located opposite the Jiantan MRT Station, next to the Yangming Branch of the Taipei Water Department. By following the cement stairs, you will reach the water reservoir and see the shrine, which retains its original stone lanterns, shrine name tablet, water basin, and a pair of guardian stone lions. This shrine is a remnant from the Japanese colonial period, with its layout largely preserved, and it is conveniently located near an MRT station. However, due to its lesser-known status, it rarely attracts tourists. Inside, there is a raised area known as the "Yuanshan Reservoir," which is an important point in the "Caoshan Waterway System." Although Yuanshan Water Shrine is just a street away from the Shilin commercial district, it remains a tranquil place, exuding an atmosphere of simplicity, mystery, and serenity.
