Yuan Shan Water God Temple Introduction
Yuan Mountain Water Shrine is located opposite the Jiantan MRT station, next to the Yangming branch of the Water Supply Company. Following the concrete stairs, visitors will reach the reservoir area and can see Yuan Mountain Water Shrine, which retains its original stone lanterns, shrine name tablet, water basin, and a pair of guardian komainu (lion-dogs). This shrine is a relic from the Japanese colonial period and maintains its original layout relatively intact, situated conveniently near a transportation hub. However, few people know about it, resulting in a scarcity of visitors. Inside, there is a raised area known as the "Yuan Mountain Reservoir," which is an important water management node of the "Grass Mountain Waterway System." Despite Yuan Mountain Water Shrine being just a street away from the Shilin commercial district, it remains a tranquil spot that exudes an ancient, mysterious, and serene atmosphere.
