Yuan Shan Water God Temple Introduction

Yuanshan Water Shrine is located opposite the Jiantan MRT Station, next to the Yangming Branch of the Water Supply Company. Following the concrete stairs, you will arrive at the reservoir where you can see the Yuanshan Water Shrine, which retains the original stone lantern, the shrine name tablet, the temizuya (purification basin), and a pair of guardian stone dogs. This shrine was built during the Japanese colonial period and its layout is largely intact. It is conveniently located near the MRT station, but because it is less known, there are rarely any visitors. Inside, there is a high area known as the "Yuanshan Reservoir," which is an important hydraulic node in the "Caoshan Waterway System." Although Yuanshan Water Shrine is only separated from the Shilin commercial district by one road, it is a tranquil place that exudes an ancient, mysterious, and relaxed atmosphere.
