Yuyuantan Shrine Introduction
Yuan Shan Water Shrine is located opposite the Jian Tan MRT Station, next to the Yang Ming Branch of the Water Supply Company. Follow the concrete stairs to reach the reservoir, and you will find Yuan Shan Water Shrine, which preserves the original stone lantern, shrine name monument, and water basin, as well as a pair of guardian lion-dogs. This shrine is a remnant from the Japanese colonial period, maintaining its overall structure, and it is conveniently located near a MRT station. However, because it is less known, it rarely attracts tourists. Inside, there is an elevated area known as the "Yuan Shan Reservoir," which is an important hydraulic node in the "C草山 Waterway System." Although Yuan Shan Water Shrine is only separated from the Shilin commercial district by one road, it remains a tranquil place that exudes an ancient, mysterious, and relaxed atmosphere.
