Sun Yun-suan Memorial Museum of Technology and Humanities Introduction
The "Sun Yun-suan Memorial Museum" located in southern Taipei, was the residence of Mr. Sun Yun-suan during his tenure as the Premier of the Executive Yuan. Mr. Sun moved in in 1980 and lived here for 26 years until his passing in 2006. Many important decisions and policies were conceived during his time as Premier. After Mr. Sun's death, in recognition of his contributions to Taiwan, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taipei City Government designated the site as a historic site in 2006 and entrusted the management to the Sun Yun-suan Academic Foundation to ensure the proper utilization of the heritage site. The residence covers an area of 866 ping and includes historical buildings, newly constructed auxiliary buildings, and gardens. The museum, which blends traditional Chinese and Western architecture, features a permanent exhibition showcasing the glamour and history of Taiwan's economic development and personal aspects of Mr. Sun's life, as well as a special exhibition area that regularly changes its exhibits. The newly built space, designed with elements of the historic building, serves as a venue for various lectures, performances, and cultural exchanges. The garden surrounding the building includes Mr. Sun's favorite fish pond, magnolias planted by his wife, and towering ancient trees. The establishment of the memorial museum aims to highlight Mr. Sun's dedication to public service and serve as a model for society. It also intends to provide a cultural space that is both traditional and modern, with depth yet easily accessible.
