Sun Yun-suan Memorial Museum of Technology and Humanities Introduction
The "Sun Yun-suan Memorial Museum of Technology and Humanities," located in the southern part of Taipei, was the residence of Mr. Sun Yun-suan during his tenure as Premier of the Executive Yuan. Mr. Sun moved in in 1980 and lived there for 26 years until his passing in 2006. During his time as Premier, many important decisions and policy directions were conceived here. After his death, in recognition of his contributions to Taiwan, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Taipei City Government designated the site as a City Historic Site in 2006 and entrusted the management to the Sun Yun-suan Academic Foundation, aiming to maximize the utilization of the historic site. Covering an area of 866 ping, the residence includes the historic building, newly constructed auxiliary buildings, and a garden. The historic site, featuring both traditional and modern elements, presents a permanent exhibition showcasing the splendor and history of Taiwan's economic development, as well as personal moments from Mr. Sun's life. A special exhibition area is also set up, with regularly changing content. The newly constructed building, designed in harmony with the architectural style of the historic site, serves as a venue for various lectures, performances, and art exchanges. The garden surrounding the building features a fish pond, Mr. Sun's favorite, magnolias planted by his wife, and towering old trees. The establishment of the memorial museum aims to highlight Mr. Sun's spirit of dedication and service, and it aspires to provide a cultural space that is both traditional and modern, deep yet approachable, through various means.
