Sun Yun-suan Memorial Museum of Technology and Humanities Introduction
The "Sun Yun-suan Memorial Museum of Technology and Humanities," located in the southern part of Taipei, was the residence of Mr. Sun Yun-suan during his tenure as the Premier of the Executive Yuan. Mr. Sun moved in in 1980 and lived here until his passing in 2006, making it his home for 26 years. Many important decisions and policies were conceived in this house during his time as Premier. After Mr. Sun's passing, in appreciation of his contributions to Taiwan, the Taipei City Government’s Department of Cultural Affairs designated it as a city historic site in 2006 and entrusted the management to the Sun Yun-suan Academic Foundation to ensure the historic site is fully utilized. The residence spans 866 ping (approximately 2,861 square meters) and includes the historic building, associated new constructions, and a garden. Within the historic site, which showcases both traditional and modern architectural elements, there is a permanent exhibition displaying the remarkable journey of Taiwan's economic development and snippets of Mr. Sun's personal life, as well as a special exhibition area that changes its exhibits regularly. The newly constructed building, designed with elements of the historic site, provides a space for various lectures, performances, and cultural exchanges. The garden surrounding the buildings features a fish pond, which was Mr. Sun’s favorite, magnolias planted by his wife, and towering ancient trees. The establishment of the museum aims to highlight Mr. Sun's dedication to public service and set an example while providing a cultural space that is both traditional and modern, deep yet accessible.
