Sun Yun-suan Memorial Museum of Technology and Humanities Introduction
The "Sun Yun-suan Memorial Museum" located in the southern part of Taipei is the former residence of Mr. Sun Yun-suan during his tenure as the Premier of the Executive Yuan. Mr. Sun moved in in 1980 and lived here for 26 years until his passing in 2006. Many important policy decisions and governance strategies were conceived during his time as Premier at this residence. After Mr. Sun's death, in appreciation of his contributions to Taiwan, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taipei City designated the building as a city-designated historic site in 2006 and commissioned the Sun Yun-suan Academic Foundation to manage it, aiming to facilitate the full utilization of the historic site. The residence, covering an area of 866 ping, includes the historic building, supplementary new structures, and gardens. The museum features a blend of traditional and modern elements, showcasing a permanent exhibition of Taiwan's economic development and aspects of Mr. Sun's personal life, along with a special exhibition area that regularly changes its exhibits. The new buildings designed with the texture of the historic site provide a space for various lectures, performances, and courses, serving as a venue for cultural exchanges. Surrounding the building, the garden features Mr. Sun's favorite fish pond, magnolias personally planted by his wife, and towering old trees. The establishment of the memorial museum aims to highlight Mr. Sun's dedication and exemplary spirit, and it aspires to provide a cultural space that is both traditional and modern, deep yet accessible, in various forms.
