Wenchang Street - Furniture Street Introduction

Wenchang Street is located at the center of the traditional market on Xinyi Road and Linjiang Street and is a famous furniture street in Taipei. In the past, this area mainly consisted of shops selling lumber, hardware, and cement for decoration materials, with very few furniture stores. Some furniture shops would even hammer and assemble sofas right at their storefronts for sale. Later, due to the demolition of illegal constructions in Daan Forest Park, nearby furniture businesses gradually moved here, eventually forming the unique street scene of today with over a hundred furniture stores, which is how it earned the title of "Furniture Street." Nowadays, this furniture street, planned by the city government, features a blend of traditional streets and modern decorations, showcasing a unique cultural and economic background while catering to both leisure and shopping needs. The variety of furniture available here is quite extensive, ranging from European, Chinese, trendy, to antique styles, with everything from large furniture to mini home decor, making it the perfect place to find creative furniture that suits one’s personality.
