National Flag Hill Introduction

Guoqi Ridge, also known as Wainanshijiao Mountain, has an elevation of 172 meters. The trail from Fuxing Elementary School to Yuantong Temple is referred to as the Wainanshijiao Trail or the Yuantong Temple Trail. A pavilion, known as the Guoqi Pavilion, is built at the summit, where there is a cornerstone painted entirely red next to the pavilion, and a small platform at the top that features a cornerstone in the middle. The nearby hiking trails along the ridge often pass through this area. It is said that a group of retired soldiers climbed this mountain in 1971 when Taiwan withdrew from the United Nations, raised the national flag, and built a hexagonal pavilion, which they named the Guoqi Pavilion, hence this place is often referred to as Guoqi Ridge.
