Neigou Mountain Cuihu Trail Introduction
The Cuihu Trail connects to the Neigou Mountain Trail in Xizhi, attracting many visitors during the Tung flower season for hiking and flower appreciation. The trail is mostly a flat and easy dirt path that can be accessed from the second entrance of the Neigou Mountain Trail. Originally, the Cuihu Trail served as a transportation route for mining; after the mine was closed, it fell into disrepair but has since been transformed into a hiking trail after renovations. Along the way, visitors can see the ruins of the Beigang Second Pit mine, which was an important coal mine in Xizhi in the past. After its abandonment, vines gradually covered the traces of the original mine, and currently, one can only glimpse the remnants of its former grandeur through the crumbling walls. Also notable is the Cuihu, a reservoir that was once used by miners for water; though it appears small and quaint today, it was a vital source of water for the miners in its prime.
