The Hengchun Qianggu event, which has a history of over a century, is held every year after the Ghost Festival at the East Gate of Hengchun. Its origin dates back to when wealthy individuals in Hengchun Town would open the city gates during the Ghost Festival, leading to injuries and fatalities as many struggled to obtain relief supplies. To address this issue, a competition was designed to contest for the items on the "Lonely Shed."
