Kaohsiung Cheng Huang Temple (Wu Temple) Introduction
Kaohsiung Guan Di Temple, formerly known as Guan Di Hall, is one of the most popular and historically rich temples in Kaohsiung, believed to have been established for over three hundred years. The temple is dedicated to the worship of Guanyu, the Holy Emperor Guan, symbolizing loyalty and righteousness, along with the Goddess of Birth and the God of Wealth. The rear hall also enshrines Guanyin, with offerings to Samantabhadra and Manjushri. Additionally, there are Wenchang Hall, Caishen Hall, and Yuelao Hall for devotees, always crowded with worshippers praying for good fortune and peace. The temple features a three-story palace-style architecture with yellow tiles and red walls, exuding solemnity and magnificence. In recent years, the Guan Di Temple has been committed to combining religious culture with tourism, especially by hosting events during the Lunar New Year to Lantern Festival period, including the Peaceful Tortoise Blessing, eating longevity noodles, solving riddles, and creative lantern exhibitions, making it the best place to understand Taiwan's traditional folk festivals and to pray for blessings.
