Kaohsiung Guandi Temple (Martial Temple) Introduction
Kaohsiung Guan Di Temple, formerly known as Guan Di Hall, is a temple with a long history and vibrant religious activities in Kaohsiung, believed to have been established over three hundred years ago. The temple primarily worships Guan Sheng Di Jun (Guan Yu), a symbol of loyalty and righteousness, alongside supporting deities such as Zhurong Niangniang and the God of Wealth. In the back hall, Guanyin Bodhisattva is also worshipped, along with Puxian Bodhisattva and Wenshu Bodhisattva. Additionally, there are temples dedicated to Wenchang, the God of Wealth, and Yuexia Laoren, catering to worshippers who seek blessings and good fortune. The temple structure is three stories tall, characterized by its palace-style architecture with yellow tiles and red walls, showcasing solemnity and splendor. In recent years, Guan Di Temple has made efforts to combine religious culture with tourism, particularly by hosting events during the Spring Festival to Lantern Festival period each year, including activities such as peace-turtle blessings, eating longevity noodles, lantern riddles, and a creative lantern exhibition, making it an excellent place to understand Taiwan's traditional folk festivals and seek blessings.
