Li Kuo-ting Residence Introduction
The residence was built in 1935 and originally served as the dormitory for the Director of the Postal Department under the Governor-General's Office during the Japanese colonial period. After the war, it was converted into the dormitory for the Director of the Finance Department of the Taiwan Provincial Government. In 1972, Mr. Li Kuo-ting moved in as the Minister of Finance and lived there until his passing. Li Kuo-ting was a key figure in Taiwan's economic development. After entering the finance and economics field in 1953 and serving until 1988 when he was appointed as an advisor to the Presidential Office, he made remarkable contributions to the development of Taiwan's industry, economy, finance, and high-tech industries, earning him the titles of the architect of Taiwan's economic miracle and the godfather of technology, with achievements recognized both domestically and internationally. In 2003, the Taipei City Government designated the residence as a city historical site and built a new exhibition hall beside it; the entire residence was opened to the public for visits on May 31, 2010, and has continued to be open since then.
