Li Guoding Former Residence Introduction
The residence was built in 1935 and originally served as the official residence of the Minister of the Postal and Telecommunications Bureau of the Governor-General’s Office during the Japanese occupation. After the war, it was converted into the residence for the Director-General of the Finance Department of the Taiwan Provincial Government. In 1972, Mr. Lee Kuo-ting moved in as Minister of Finance and lived there until his passing. Lee Kuo-ting is a key figure in Taiwan's economic development. After entering the financial field in 1953 and continuing until his appointment as Minister of the Presidential Office in 1988, he made remarkable contributions to Taiwan's industry, economy, finance, and high-tech industry development, earning the titles of the promoter of Taiwan's economic miracle and the godfather of technology, with achievements recognized both domestically and abroad. The Taipei City Government announced the residence as a city-designated historic site in 2003 and built an exhibition hall next to it. The entire residence opened to the public on May 31, 2010, and remains accessible to this day.
