Li Guoding Former Residence Introduction
The residence was built in 1935 and originally served as the official residence of the Minister of the Transport Department of the Governor-General's Office during the Japanese colonial period. After the war, it was converted into the official residence of the Director-General of the Finance Bureau of the Taiwan Provincial Government. In 1972, Mr. Lee Kuo-ting moved in when he served as the Minister of Finance and lived there until his passing. Lee Kuo-ting is a key figure in Taiwan's economic development. Since entering the financial and economic field in 1953 until he became a senior advisor to the Presidential Office in 1988, he made remarkable contributions to the development of Taiwan's industry, economy, finance, and high-tech industries. He is known as the driving force behind the Taiwan economic miracle and the father of technology, achieving acclaim both domestically and internationally. In 2003, the Taipei City Government designated Lee Kuo-ting's former residence as a city historical site and built a new exhibition hall beside it; the entire residence was opened to the public on May 31, 2010, and has been accessible ever since.
