Lee Kuo-ding Former Residence Introduction
The residence was built in 1935 and originally served as the official residence for the Minister of the Division of Transportation and Communications under the Governor-General's Office during the Japanese colonial period. After the war, it was converted into the official residence for the Director-General of the Finance Department of the Taiwan Provincial Government. In 1972, Mr. Li Kuo-ting moved in as the Minister of Finance and lived there until his passing. Li Kuo-ting is a key figure in Taiwan's economic development. From 1953 until his transition to the Presidential Office as a Senior Adviser in 1988, he made outstanding contributions to Taiwan's industry, economy, finance, and high-tech industry, earning the titles of the driving force behind Taiwan's economic miracle and the "father of technology." His achievements are well-known both domestically and internationally. In 2003, the Taipei City Government designated the Li Kuo-ting Residence as a city monument and built a new exhibition hall beside it; the entire residence has been open to the public for visits since May 31, 2010.
