Bihsi Liyu Coast Introduction
Pisirian is a seaside village located in the Sanxiantai community of Chenggong Township. It was once a place where the Amis people raised sheep. Throughout the village, one can see the art of Jimmy Liao, a flock of sheep made from driftwood, and the internationally renowned Paw Paw Drum Team, which adds a sense of childlike wonder to this small community. Following in the footsteps of the girl from Jimmy's "An Afternoon in Spring," visitors can explore 11 painted spots scattered throughout Pisirian to further discover the tranquil and simple beauty of the village. In the Amis language, "Pisirian" means "the place for raising sheep," where "siri" refers to goats. In the past, the Amis people living here used the tides to raise sheep on Sanxiantai Island. As times have changed, the village no longer sees sheep; recognizing the issues of continuous youth outmigration and cultural gaps in the Amis age groups, the Sanxiantai Community Development Association, along with local residents, children, and artists, has united efforts to promote community building and create a new atmosphere for the village's development. Pisirian has not only the art of Jimmy Liao and the wooden sheep but also the Paw Paw Drum Team, composed of village children who have gained international fame. They produce loud, rhythmic drum sounds using self-made pow pow drums, combined with the pure and clear voices of the children to showcase their vibrant vitality. If you have the opportunity to visit Pisirian, consider booking a performance to listen to the resounding primitive songs of the East Coast. The vibrant paintings adorn the walls of abandoned houses in Pisirian, featuring a large mural created by local youth and children. In warm color tones of red, yellow, and orange, several leaping "Jimmy Wind" white sheep are interspersed, their joyful postures mirroring the running children in the village, filled with energy and vitality! The old building has also been transformed into a homestay space, allowing travelers visiting Pisirian to not only explore the Jimmy art park, labyrinth, and admire community art installations but also to slow down, embrace the natural beauty surrounded by mountains and sea, and taste the innovative local culinary delights.
