Bixilian Coast Introduction
Pisirian is a small coastal village located in the Sanxian community of Chenggong Township. In the past, it was a place where the Amis people raised sheep. The village is adorned with the art of Jimmy Liao, sculptures of sheep made from driftwood, and the renowned Paw Paw music group, adding a sense of whimsy to this small community. Now, following in the footsteps of the little girl in Jimmy Liao's "An Afternoon Leading to Spring," visitors can embark on a journey to discover 11 colorful murals scattered throughout the Pisirian village, further uncovering the tranquil and simple beauty of the area. The name "Pisirian" means "a place for raising sheep" in the Amis language, where "siri" refers to goats. In the past, the Amis people lived here and utilized the ebb and flow of the tides to graze their sheep on Sanxiantai Island. However, over time, the village has lost its sheep population. Concerned about the continuous loss of the youth and cultural disconnection within the Amis community, the Sanxian community development association, along with local residents, children, and artists, has worked together to promote community development and create a new atmosphere for the village. The original sounds from the village can be heard through the Paw Paw music group, which consists of local children and has gained fame overseas. They create vibrant and rhythmic music with their handmade barrel drums, accompanied by the pure and clear voices of the kids, showcasing their lively spirit. If you have the opportunity to visit Pisirian, be sure to book a performance and listen to the resonant primitive songs of the East Coast. Dynamic and vibrant murals adorn the exterior walls of abandoned houses in Pisirian, painted by local youth and children. In warm tones of red, yellow, and orange, several jumping "Jimmy-style" white sheep frolic, mirroring the lively spirit of the children running throughout the village. The old buildings have also been transformed into homestay spaces, allowing travelers who visit the Pisirian village not only to explore the Jimmy Liao art park, labyrinth, and appreciate the village's artistic installations but also to slow down and experience the natural beauty surrounded by mountains and the sea while savoring innovative local cuisine.
