Bishirian Coast Introduction
Pisirian is a small seaside village located in San Sheng Community, Chenggong Township. It was once a place where the Amis people raised sheep. The village is filled with artwork by Jimmy Liao, a flock of sheep created from driftwood, and the internationally renowned Paw Paw drum group, adding a sense of childish fun to this small community. Now, following the footsteps of the little girl from Jimmy's "An Afternoon Walking into Spring," one can embark on a journey to discover 11 painted spots scattered throughout the Pisirian village, further exploring the quiet and simple beauty of the community. The name "Pisirian" in the Amis language means "a place for raising sheep," where "siri" refers to goats. In the past, the Amis people who lived here took advantage of the tidal changes to raise sheep on San Sheng Island. As times changed, the sheep disappeared from the village. In response to the declining youth population and cultural disconnection among the Amis, the San Sheng Community Development Association, along with local residents, children, and artists, is working hard to revitalize the community and create a new atmosphere for development. Pisirian is not only blessed with the artwork of Jimmy Liao and wooden sheep but also hosts the Paw Paw drum group, composed of local children and famous overseas for their powerful performances. With their self-made pao bao drums, they create vibrant and rhythmic sounds, complemented by the pure and clear voices of the children, showcasing their lively spirit. If you have the opportunity to visit Pisirian, be sure to book a performance and listen to the resonant primitive songs of the East Coast. The colorful murals in Pisirian are a sight to behold, with a giant painting on the outer walls of abandoned houses, personally painted by local youth and children. In warm tones of red, yellow, and orange, several leaping "Jimmy winds" white sheep can be seen, embodying the energy and vitality of children running in the village. Additionally, the old building has been transformed into a homestay, allowing travelers who visit Pisirian to not only explore the Jimmy Liao park and maze, as well as enjoy the village's artistic installations, but also to slow down and appreciate the natural beauty surrounded by mountains and the sea, while tasting innovative local delicacies.
