Bishi Coast Introduction
Pisirian is a small coastal village located in the Sanhsian Community of Chenggong Township. It used to be a place for the Amis people to raise sheep. In the village, you can find numerous works by the artist Jimmy, sheep made from driftwood, and the internationally renowned Paw Paw drum group, which adds a sense of playfulness to this quaint village. Following the footsteps of the little girl from Jimmy's "An Afternoon Leading to Spring," you can embark on a journey to discover 11 painted spots scattered throughout the Pisirian village and further explore the village's tranquil and simple beauty. The name Pisirian in the Amis language means "the place for raising sheep," with "siri" referring to goats in Amis. The Amis people who once lived here utilized the ebb and flow of the tides to raise sheep on Sanxiantai Island. With the passage of time, the village no longer sees sheep, and due to the continuous outflow of the youth population and the cultural disconnect within the Amis age organizations, the Sanhsian Community Development Association, along with local residents, children, and artists, has worked together to promote community building and create a new atmosphere for village development. Pisirian is not only home to Jimmy's artwork and wooden sheep but also features the "Paw Paw Drum Group," composed of village children who have gained international acclaim and possess tremendous energy. With their self-made bao bao drums, they produce loud and rhythmic drum sounds, accompanied by the pure and clear voices of the children, showcasing their vibrant vitality. If you have the chance to visit Pisirian, it is worth scheduling a performance to hear the powerful, primal songs of the East Coast. The vibrant walls of abandoned houses in Pisirian display a giant mural hand-painted by the village youth and children, filled with warm hues of red, yellow, and orange interspersed with several jumping "Jimmy's Wind" sheep. The lively leaping of the sheep mirrors the energetic running of the children in the village, creating a sense of vitality and energy! Additionally, the original structure of the old building has been transformed into a guesthouse, allowing travelers visiting Pisirian to not only explore the Jimmy park, maze, and admire the village's art installations but also slow down to experience the natural beauty surrounded by mountains and sea, while tasting the innovative and unique local cuisine.
