Chenggong Xinguang Fishing Port Introduction
Chenggong Township was formerly known as "Malouluo Society." In 1921, it was renamed "Xingang" by the Japanese, and after the war, it was changed to "Chenggong." The area has a history that dates back 3,500 years to the Qilin culture, with archaeological finds in Chenggong Township indicating an early origin. Chenggong Xingang Fishing Harbor is the largest fishing port in the east coast region, facing the Pacific Ocean, and is located in the waters of the Kuroshio Current. The rich marine resources, including swordfish, marlin, and skipjack tuna, have led to the unique spearfishing techniques of Chenggong and the flourishing development of its fishing culture. Every October, when the northeast monsoon blows in, it's the peak season for marlin. The unique spearfishing skills of local fishermen preserve the fresh and firm texture of the marlin, making it a beloved dish among food enthusiasts who flock to Chenggong for delicious marlin feasts! Being along the Kuroshio Current, Chenggong is also a great place for whale watching! Riding a whale-watching boat through the waves, visitors can gaze upon the beautiful islands of the east coast and have the chance to see dolphins jumping in the sea—these beautiful moments are always unforgettable. In addition to whale watching and enjoying marlin in the winter, Chenggong Township offers a variety of unique snacks and souvenirs. Juicy swordfish steaks, creamy Chenggong tofu pudding, and handmade pastries made from local ingredients are all must-try delicacies when visiting Chenggong!
