Qiongma Industrial History Exhibition Area Introduction
Leaving the Back Bay Fishing Port and heading towards Longluan Lake, a right turn at the sign for the southern shore of Longluan Lake will lead you to the entrance sign of the Qionghua Industrial Exhibition Area. The Kenting National Park Headquarters has transformed the leftover machinery, drying fields, warehouses, dormitories, and the Japanese-style shrine (Torii) from the Qionghua Factory into an exhibition area, where visitors can gain a complete understanding of Qionghua, the manufacturing process, and the rise and fall of the history of Qionghua in Hengchun. The "Hengchun Hemp Field" was established by the Taiwan Fiber Company in 1913 and served as an important hub for promoting Qionghua cultivation and rope production. After the restoration, the successful export of hemp ropes to Japan marked the golden age of the Qionghua industry. However, in the 1970s, nylon ropes replaced the position of Qionghua, leading to the closure of the Hengchun Hemp Field in 1983. In 1995, the Kenting National Park Management Office repurposed the remaining equipment at the site to create a historical exhibition area for the Qionghua industry, showcasing the historical development of the Qionghua industry in Hengchun, and offering free tours to visitors.
