Qiongma Industrial History Exhibition Area Introduction
Leaving the After-Bay Fishing Port and heading towards Long Luantan, turn right at the sign for the southern bank of Long Luantan and you will see the entrance sign for the Qionghua Industrial Exhibition Area. The Kenting National Park Administration has preserved the machinery rooms, drying grounds, warehouses, dormitories, and the Japanese shrine - Torii, from the Qionghua factory and has planned them as an exhibition area. Here, visitors can fully understand Qionghua, the manufacturing process, and the rise and fall of the history of Qionghua in Hengchun. Originally established by Taiwan Fiber Co., Ltd. in 1913, the "Hengchun Hemp Field" was an important base for promoting the cultivation of Qionghua and the manufacture of ropes. After the recovery, the successful export of hemp ropes to Japan marked the golden age of Qionghua industry. However, in the 1970s, the rise of nylon ropes replaced Qionghua's position, and the Hengchun Hemp Field closed in 1983. In 1995, the Kenting National Park Administration utilized the equipment left at the site and planned it to become the Qionghua Industrial History Exhibition Area, showcasing the historical development of the Qionghua industry in Hengchun, which is free for tourists to visit.
