Tan-Nan Village Catholic Church Introduction
TanNan Catholic Church is the highest church in Nantou County, featuring a gigantic statue of Jesus in TanNan Village, which serves as the landmark of the church. Witnessing the open-armed Jesus at the mountainside feels like a comforting presence for the afflicted, symbolizing the end of all suffering. The church is built along the hillside, surrounded by glass walls, which makes the long-shaped building feel spacious. Behind the altar is a pool of water, and under the illumination, it appears as if the church is both above and below the water’s surface, signifying that God is omnipresent. Designed based on the concept of Noah's Ark, it combines biblical significance with a modern sensibility.
