Zhaoping (Station and surrounding park) Introduction
The main attractions in Zhuoping include Zhuoping Station, Zhuoping Park (also known as Nature Park), and the logging machinery (pillar) among others. The starting point of the sunrise viewing trail to Zhushan is also from Zhuoping, which takes about 40 minutes to reach Zhushan Station. The open area next to Zhuoping Station is Zhuoping Park, which was initially planned as a nature park but was redefined as Zhuoping Park considering its cultural and historical value. The park is home to various alpine plants, such as Cerasus campanulata, Prunus serrulata var. speciosa, Cerasus stipulata, Rhododendron forrestii, Wisteria floribunda, Malus domestica, Chaenomeles superba, Sorbaria sorbifolia, Yunnan euphorbia, Corokia cotoneaster, Hydrangea macrophylla, Iris pseudacorus, Genista, and Hemerocallis. In early spring, the park is filled with vibrant colors, making it a famous flower viewing spot in the recreational area; in autumn, it is adorned with deciduous plants like the Taiwan red maple, creating a breathtaking view that captivates passing visitors. In the past, every forest logging site in Taiwan had a steam logging machine. After Alishan ceased direct logging in 1967, many tools were auctioned off, and the logging machine here was sold for 10,000 TWD as scrap metal. After the national forest recreation area arose, a steam logging machine was purchased from Hualien Lintianshan and displayed here for exhibition.
