Lafran Arts Village Introduction
Address: No. 20, Lafran Rd, Lafran Li, Taoyuan District, Kaohsiung City (Located in the area of Zhangshan Li in Taoyuan District, near Meishankou, at the 107 km mark of Provincial Highway No. 20) Phone: 07-6866293. Stepping into Lafran Li, a wave of indigenous artistic charm immediately captivates the eyes. Along the southern cross-island highway, the beams and pillars of the houses are almost covered with Bunun tribe totems, while many wooden and stone sculptures are casually placed along the sidewalks. Visitors strolling through the area not only experience a rich indigenous atmosphere but also the vibrant personality of the local residents of Meilan Li. The Lafran Li community began planning and constructing the Lafran Bunun Art Village in the 88th year of the Republic of China. In addition to securing funding from various authorities, the community is also actively nurturing craftsmen, focusing on traditional Bunun weaving, wood and stone carving, and pottery creation. The newly completed community cultural performance venue further embodies the ideals of the art village; large events like the Bunun ear-piercing ceremony are held here, and the community frequently utilizes the performance space for exchange and exhibitions, revitalizing community functions and making the Lafran Bunun Art Village truly live up to its name. Next time you pass by, don't forget to slow down, take photos with the beautiful artistic streetscape, and immerse yourself in the expression of Bunun culture. Located behind the Lafran Li community is the "Lafran Art Village Leisure Trail," a scenic walk that takes about 30 minutes to complete. The trail is constructed with railway sleepers interspersed with farm paths, offering a unique experience. At the highest point of the trail, there is a pavilion where visitors can rest and enjoy a view of the village landscape.
