Lavender Cottage Arts Village Introduction
Address: No. 20, Lafulan Rd., Taoyuan District, Kaohsiung City (Located within Zhangshan Village in Taoyuan District, near Meishankou, at 107 km on Provincial Highway No. 20) Phone: 07-6866293 Entering Lafulan Village, you'll immediately be struck by a rich atmosphere of indigenous art. The beams and columns of houses along the Southern Cross-Island Highway are almost completely wrapped in Bunun tribe totems, and various wooden and stone sculptures seem to be casually displayed along the sidewalks. Visitors strolling through the area experience not only the vibrant indigenous culture but also the warm personality of the residents of Meilan Village. Since 1999, the Lafulan community has planned and established the Lafulan Bunun Arts Village, actively seeking subsidies from various levels of government while also nurturing craftsmanship talents in the community, such as traditional Bunun weaving, wood and stone carving, and pottery. The newly completed community cultural performance venue further realizes the ideal of the arts village, hosting large events like the Bunun Ear-pulling Festival, while also being used for community exchange performances, revitalizing the community's function and making the Lafulan Bunun Arts Village truly deserving of its name. The next time you pass through here, don’t forget to slow down, take pictures with the beautiful artistic street scenes, and thoughtfully experience the embodiment of Bunun's beautiful culture. Located behind Lafulan Village is the “Lafulan Arts Village Leisure Trail,” which takes about 30 minutes to walk the entire route. The trail is built with wooden sleepers interspersed with farm paths, offering a unique experience as you walk. At the trail's high point, there is a gazebo where you can take a break and enjoy the view of the village.
