Taoyuan District Indigenous Cultural Museum Introduction

The Taoyuan District Indigenous Cultural Museum is located approximately 94 kilometers along the Southern Cross-Island Highway in Taoyuan District, surrounded by mountains and featuring beautiful scenery. The museum consists of three floors. The main indigenous groups in Taoyuan District are the Bunun and Raruan people, along with a small number of Paiwan, Lukai, and Han people. In front of the museum, there is a large outdoor performance area that can be used for various ceremonies. The museum primarily preserves the local indigenous culture and enriches its collection of artifacts. Through images, utensils, and other collected items, it showcases the cultural development history of the Bunun and Raruan communities in the area, aiming to present their rich culture. It is hoped that this will help the indigenous people understand their historical context and the trajectory of cultural changes. A suggested visit duration is about one hour, during which visitors can explore the various thematic exhibition areas featuring cultural artifacts and images.
