Pu-Lai Creek Tou Soc War Trail Introduction
The entrance to the Pulai Stream Head Society Trail is located within the Baolai Flower Viewing Park in Liouguei District, Kaohsiung City. "Pulai" is the old name of Baolai, and the Pulai Stream Head Society is situated at the watershed between Laonong River and Baolai River. In the early 20th century, a Japanese anthropologist discovered the ruins of the "Pulai Stream Head Society" here. This trail was reportedly constructed during the Japanese colonial period to control indigenous activities, building the Meilong Mountain artillery station. A road was constructed along the ridge of Meilong Mountain to mobilize labor to transport cannon barrels and building materials to the top of Baolai Peak for the establishment of the Meilong Mountain artillery station, making it the predecessor of the Pulai Stream Head Society Trail, which carries significant historical meaning. It is recommended to spend about 1 hour here; the trail is approximately 3 kilometers long, and to preserve its original appearance, it was constructed using natural methods. Along the way, there are bamboo forests, acacia trees, thyme, plum gardens, and other rich plant ecologies.
