Pulai River Tso Tsao Trail Introduction
The entrance to the Pulai Creek Tou-She battle path is located within the Baolai Flower Appreciation Park in Liugui District, Kaohsiung City. "Pulai" is the old name of Baolai, and the Pulai Creek Tou-She is situated at the watershed between Laonong Creek and Baolai Creek. In the early 20th century, an anthropologist from Japan discovered the "Pulai Creek Tou-She" ruins here. This battle path was reportedly built during the Japanese colonial period to control indigenous activities, with a road constructed along the ridge of Meilong Mountain to mobilize labor to transport cannon tubes and materials for the cannon base to the top of Baolai Peak in order to establish the Meilong Mountain artillery fort, marking the origin of the Pulai Creek Tou-She battle path, which carries significant historical meaning. It is recommended to spend about 1 hour here; the battle path is approximately 3 kilometers long and has been constructed using natural methods to preserve its original appearance. Along the way, one can find bamboo groves, acacia forests, thyme, and plum orchards, resulting in a rich variety of plant ecology.
