Rainbow Mountain Buddha Introduction
The Rainbow Mountain Big Buddha is located on Xinkai Road in Liugui District and is also known as the "Liugui Big Buddha." Established by the Rainbow Mountain Religious Foundation, construction began in 2000 (the 89th year of the Republic of China) and took 15 years to complete, opening for public visitation in 2015 (the 104th year of the Republic of China). The Buddha stands 20 meters tall, equivalent to nearly seven stories, and was cast using 167 tons of copper. The main body is magnificent, with a compassionate and serene expression when viewed from the front. Observing from closer, it appears solemn and imposing. In front of the Buddha, there is a worship platform featuring a large copper censer and copper altar, designed in a traditionally ornate style. Visitors can climb the stairs to reach the Buddha. In recent years, the Big Buddha has become a landmark and a popular spot for tourists in the Liugui area. Behind it is a temple, and the surrounding corridor houses the 12 Zodiac King Bodhisattvas (12 Yaksha Generals), each symbolizing the 12 Chinese Zodiac signs. Everyone is welcome to come and admire the Buddha. It is recommended to spend about one hour here, with opportunities to enter the Buddha for visitation or to explore the exquisite craftsmanship of the architecture and sculptures within the park.
