Laomei Green Stone Workshop Introduction
Laomei Green Reef was voted by CNN as one of Taiwan's eight hidden gems. The vibrant green algae and the blue ocean complement each other, creating a dreamy green landscape on the northern coast from February to May every year. It not only attracts photography enthusiasts to capture stunning moments but is also a popular Instagram spot and a must-visit location for wedding photoshoots. Laomei Green Reef is located in Laomei Village, Shimen District, New Taipei City. It was originally volcanic rock left on the coastline after the Datun volcano eruption. Over time, the softer parts were eroded by wave action, leaving behind harder sections that formed vertical grooves. Waves brought by the northeast monsoon crash against the surfaces of these grooves, nourishing them with moisture and allowing green algae like sea lettuce and sea hair to flourish, creating the astonishing seasonal beauty of the "Green Reef." The grooves are a natural landscape caused by the growth of algae, but in recent years, they have faced survival crises due to warm winter conditions and human trampling. The Green Reef is very slippery and can cause injuries if one falls, so it is advised not to step on the grooves to avoid damaging the growing environment. It is recommended to enjoy the view from the beach, allowing the precious Green Reef to thrive sustainably.
