Dongshi Xiantian Temple Introduction
Xiantian Temple is located in Dongshi Harbor, Chiayi County, and has a history of over 300 years. The temple, built facing the sea, features a magnificent exterior and serves as a center of faith for local fishermen. The temple enshrines deities such as Wufu Qiansui, Baosheng Dadi, and Jifu Qiansui. The Wang Boat Festival, held every five years, is the most important ceremony of Xiantian Temple, commemorating the Wang Boat that was welcomed from Waisanting Island. Another century-old tradition is the lantern riddle event held for three consecutive days during the Lantern Festival, which attracts many participants each year with its abundant prizes.
