Aogu Wetland Ecological Exhibition Center Introduction
Dongshi Township is home to the renowned Ao-Gu Wetlands, famous for its “Eight Sights of Dongshi” and its delicious, fresh oysters, which have made it a popular tourist destination in recent years. The Ao-Gu Wetlands Ecological Visitor Center opened in 2011, focusing on cultural history, natural ecology, and other information to enhance the local cultural essence and allow it to thrive. The center is themed around the natural ecological culture of Dongshi Township, creating a space where "ecology meets culture." The second floor features a permanent exhibition titled "Seeing the Rhythm of Nature," which won both the GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2023 in Japan and the Platinum Award at the 2023 Muse Creative Awards. The exhibition, which covers bird ecology and local cultural materials, is divided into six main sections: Flowing Land, Migratory Bird Journey, and New Beginnings at Ao-Gu, allowing visitors to have an immersive experience of bird ecology, as if they were visiting the Ao-Gu Wetlands themselves. The visitor center also provides the most comprehensive information on dining, drinking, entertainment, and activities in Dongshi Township, connecting community attractions with birdwatching, the Chiku Stream, and classic itineraries to Waisha Island, blending ecological experiences with leisure travel, thereby revitalizing this tranquil rural fishing village.
