Dongshi Township is home to the famous wetland - Aogu Wetland, as well as the renowned "Eight Scenic Spots of Dongshi" and delicious, fresh oysters. The Aogu Wetland Ecological Exhibition Hall was opened in 2011, focusing on cultural history and natural ecology, thoroughly showcasing the connotations of local culture. The permanent exhibition on the second floor, titled "Seeing the Rhythm of Nature," won both the 2023 Japan GOOD DESIGN AWARD and the Platinum Award at the 2023 Musie Creative Awards. This exhibition features materials related to bird ecology and local culture, divided into six major sections: Flowing Land, Migratory Birds' Journey, and Aogu's New Life, allowing visitors to have an immersive experience of bird ecology, as if they were personally visiting Aogu Wetland. The exhibition hall also provides the most comprehensive information on dining, drinking, entertainment, and leisure in Dongshi Township, connecting scenic spots in the community and classic tours such as bird watching, exploring Puzhi River, and Waisanting Island. This integration of ecological bird watching and recreational tourism brings new vitality to the tranquil rural fishing village.
