Puzih River Estuary Wetland (Puzih River Mouth) Introduction
For a bird's-eye view of the expansive landscape of the Puzih River estuary wetland, there is no better place than Dongshi Bridge. Standing on the bridge, you will see the spectacular estuarine scenery. If the tide is low, the sandbars on the river emerge, revealing precious ecological landscapes. The ecosystem here consists mainly of intertidal zones, mudflats, riverside mangroves, and oyster racks. Notable species include the southern Taiwan-exclusive Kandelia obovata mangrove and the fiddler crabs often seen in the wetland, both of which are charming reasons to visit the Puzih River estuary wetland. To help visitors better understand the ecological features of the Puzih River estuary wetland, birdwatching and viewing facilities have been constructed along the riverbanks, along with many amusing and cute informational boards to enhance the understanding of the local flora and fauna distribution. The riverbanks are not only perfect for leisurely walks but also the best place for cycling. Of course, you can also choose to take a scenic fishing raft from Dongshi Fisherman's Wharf to explore the river upstream and experience the mangrove and wetland ecology.
