Kouhu Visitor Center Introduction
Kouhu Tourist Service Center is one of the nodes in the wetland ecological park of the Kouhu area. The design is inspired by common elements found in wetlands, conceptualized around the beautiful image of waterbirds soaring through the sky, adding vitality to the surrounding open grassland landscape. This design employs landscape architecture to integrate the building volume—where the roof extends as an extension of the earth, uniting the man-made structure with the land. The two buildings intersect through their roofs, resembling two waterbirds flying side by side. Visitors can directly ascend to the green rooftop viewing walkway via a gently sloping roof that melds into the ground (currently, the second-floor viewing pathway is under renovation and not accessible) to enjoy the panoramic view of the wetlands. The ecological pond and birdwatching pavilion are enclosed by a visual permeability fence, allowing observers to view the subjects without external interference, thus showcasing their most primitive form and enhancing the viewing experience. The Kouhu Tourist Service Center is also one of the few tourist centers that offer dining services, providing a rich menu of "locally sourced farm-to-table cuisine." Reservations are welcome in advance to savor the most authentic flavors of Kouhu.
