Kouhu Visitor Center Introduction
The Kouhu Visitor Service Center is one of the nodes of the wetland ecological park in the Kouhu area. It is designed with the imagery of common elements found in wetlands; while the beautiful sight of waterbirds in flight serves as the inspiration, adding vitality to the surrounding open grassy landscape. This design uses a landscape architecture approach to plan the building volumes—the roof extends as an extension of the earth, uniting the man-made structure with the land. The two buildings interlace through their roofs, resembling two waterbirds flying side by side. Visitors can access the green roof observation trail from the ground via the gently sloping roof that merges into the land (currently, the second-floor observation trail is under maintenance and cannot be accessed), offering a distant view of the wetland scenery. The ecological pond and birdwatching pavilion are surrounded by a fence that creates a visually permeable space, allowing the subjects to be undisturbed by the outside world, showcasing their most primitive appearance and enhancing the observation experience. The Kouhu Visitor Service Center is also one of the few visitor service centers that provide dining services, offering rich cuisine made from "local small farm ingredients with no menu," and advance reservations by phone are welcome to taste the most authentic flavors of Kouhu.
