Wubei Tihua Window Community (Xu Wu Community) Introduction
The community is located in Wubei Village, Hukou Township, Yunlin County, and can be accessed via the West Coast Expressway. A five-story Wuwei Water Tower serves as the community's welcoming landmark, while the famous iron flower window art, themed around local stories, is exhibited like an art gallery throughout the village's alleys, preserving the complete old houses, ancient trees, and old wells. Additionally, the community has facilities such as waterfront walking paths, ecological ponds, and parks, allowing visitors to experience the charm of culture and ecology. The local revitalization records the stories through the old iron window art, which became popular on buildings in Taiwan due to early theft prevention needs, combining with cast iron decorative patterns. As a result, "iron flower windows" have become a significant feature of Taiwan’s old architecture. The Wubei community, through a renovation team, has utilized the existing old iron windows to create 13 distinctive iron flower windows, incorporating elements of "hand" in their creations, such as Mr. Li Wanju's struggle for democratic human rights and the well-known "Wubei Chien-Tsai Lion Dance Troupe," with each iron flower window telling a story of local cultural life. Accompanying the little swifts on a fun trip, treasure hunting through the village alleys. The little swift is a common member of the swift family in Taiwan, and the more than 60-year-old Wuwei Water Tower in Wubei Village has become a home for them. The community integrates local natural ecology, hiding 10 mosaic-style little swifts within the village, allowing visitors to search through the alleys for them and enjoy a nostalgic yet fun experience.
