Liuchong Creek Pingpu Cultural Park Introduction
In recent years, there has been a rising trend in seeking the roots of Pingpu culture. To preserve the cultural characteristics of the Pingpu people, the Tainan City Government established the Liu Chong Creek Pingpu Cultural Park, which has rebuilt the public shrine and provided a better space for the long-discontinued night festival activities. Traditional bamboo houses have been constructed to house artifacts like living utensils of the Pingpu people. The public shrine, built from bamboo and divided into two rooms, honors the Qing Shui Laojun and the Five Sisters of the Taizu. The Five Sisters of the Taizu do not have physical forms, represented instead by five jars arranged in sequence, which are honored with rituals involving rice wine and betel nuts. The night festival for the Five Sisters of the Taizu takes place each year from the evening of September 14th to the early morning of September 15th in the lunar calendar.
