Biyun Temple Introduction
In 1792, a scholar named Shih Ying-hsiang came to Taiwan from China. He initially lived in Agongdian (now Gangshan District). After three months, he climbed the volcanic Daxian Rock. In 1796, seeking a secluded place for his later years, he trekked through mountains and waters. Due to his skills in surveying, he discovered the "Half Wall Hanging Lantern Fire" at the southern waist of Pillow Mountain, known as the Qilin Cave. He then overcame obstacles and brought back the statue of Guanyin from Daxian Temple to reside here for his secluded practice, which marks the founding origin of today’s Biyun Temple.
