Hatta Yoichi Memorial Park Introduction
The Hatta Yoichi Memorial Park is established to commemorate Mr. Hatta Yoichi, the builder of the Chianan Irrigation System. Hatta Yoichi, also known as the "Father of the Chianan Irrigation System," arrived in southern Taiwan in 1910 to engage in the long survey work of the Wushantou Reservoir and the Chianan Irrigation System. Located on the north side of the Wushantou Reservoir, the Hatta Yoichi Memorial Park was renovated in 2009 and officially opened in 2011, featuring a complete collection of Japanese-style architecture. To faithfully preserve its original appearance, the engineers responsible for the restoration traveled to Hatta Yoichi's hometown in Ishikawa Prefecture to study the local architectural features, using traditional Japanese carpentry techniques as the basis for the renovation, aiming to bring the park closer to the aesthetic of Japanese architecture. The furniture and decor inside the Hatta residence are arranged just like they were back in the day, making visitors feel as if they have stepped into a time tunnel. The outdoor garden features a picturesque scene of bridges and flowing water, with the pond creatively shaped like Taiwan, further reflecting Hatta Yoichi's deep affection for this land.
