Hatta Yoichi Memorial Park Introduction
The Yeh Liu Yi Memorial Park was established to commemorate Mr. Yeh Liu Yi, the builder of the Chianan Canal. Yeh Liu Yi is also known as the "Father of the Chianan Canal." In 1910, Yeh Liu Yi came to southern Taiwan to engage in the long exploration of the Wushantou Reservoir and the Chianan Canal. Located on the northern side of the Wushantou Reservoir, the Yeh Liu Yi Memorial Park underwent renovations in 2009 and was officially opened in 2011, featuring a complete collection of Japanese-style architecture. To faithfully preserve the original appearance, the technicians responsible for the restoration even traveled to Yeh Liu Yi's hometown in Ishikawa Prefecture to examine the architectural characteristics there, using traditional Japanese carpentry techniques as the basis for the renovation, aiming to bring the park closer to the aesthetic of Japanese architecture. The furniture in the Yeh residence is arranged just like it was back in the day, making visitors feel as if they have stepped into a time tunnel. The outdoor garden presents picturesque scenes of small bridges and flowing water, with a pond designed in the shape of Taiwan, reflecting Yeh Liu Yi's deep emotional connection to this land.
