Aqueduct Trail Introduction

The Tiao Shui Ancient Path is located between Dazhu Village and Xitou Village in Fengyuan Township, Changhua. It is a stone-paved road that early settlers used to collect mountain spring water. At the entrance, there is a gate that resembles a torii shrine, and about 1 kilometer ahead is the vehicle control point. When getting off and walking, the front section of the path is relatively easy to traverse, but as it enters the middle mountainous road, the terrain becomes more uneven. It is recommended for the elderly to bring trekking poles for easier navigation. During the Qing Dynasty, early settlers cultivated the land in search of water sources and discovered a canal on the foothills of Bagua Mountain that flowed year-round. They excavated two wells, named Long and Feng wells, in the area and constructed a stone step path to the mountain spring. The exact time of the path's construction is unknown, but it is estimated to have at least a hundred years of history. The two wells have since dried up, and it was not until the expansion of County Road 139 and the intersection of Dazhang Road and Zhangnan Road that it was integrated with the flood control canal and redeveloped into a hiking trail. The Tiao Shui Ancient Path is also one of the eight major Paulownia blossom viewing spots in Changhua, with a thousand-year-old Paulownia tree at the entrance. Following this, there are numerous Paulownia trees lining the road. During the spring and summer flowering season, the petals fall and cover the entire path, resembling a walk in the snow. Along the ancient path, there are pavilions and wooden benches under the trees where visitors can sit for a moment to quietly appreciate the blooming Paulownia flowers and the fluttering scene, fully enjoying this romantic and tranquil time.
