Tiao Shui Ancient Trail Introduction
The Tiao Shui Ancient Path is located between Dazhu Village and Xitou Village in Fengyuan Township, Changhua. It is a stone-paved path that early settlers used to collect spring water. The entrance features a torii gate-like archway, and about a kilometer ahead is a vehicle control point. Upon getting off and walking, the initial part of the path is relatively easy, but as you enter the central mountain trails, the terrain becomes more undulating, so it is recommended that elderly visitors bring hiking sticks for easier navigation. During the Qing Dynasty, the early settlers cleared land in search of water sources and discovered a channel at the foothills of Bagua Mountain that flowed year-round. They excavated two wells, Long and Feng, at that location and constructed a stairway path from the mountain area using rocks. The construction date of the path is unknown, but it is estimated to be at least over a hundred years old. The two wells have since dried up, and this area was not integrated into a hiking trail until the completion of the expansion of County Road 139 (Dazhang Road) and Zhangnan Road, which connected it to flood control channels. The Tiao Shui Ancient Path is also one of Changhua's eight scenic spots for viewing the Paulownia trees. Upon entering, you will see a thousand-year-old Paulownia tree welcoming you. The path is lined with numerous Paulownia trees, and during the spring and summer flowering seasons, the petals fall and blanket the ground, creating the illusion of walking in snow. Along the ancient path, there are pavilions or wooden benches under the trees where visitors can take a moment to sit and quietly enjoy the breathtaking view of the blooming Paulownia flowers and the swirling petals, fully embracing this romantic and tranquil time.
