Wu Zhihui Memorial Park Introduction
Located next to the ShuiTou Pier, it offers a clear view of the ships entering and exiting ShuiTou Harbor. The park is shaded by green leaves and features a monument inscribed by Chiang Kai-shek and a statue of Mr. Wu Zhi-hui. Mr. Wu Zhi-hui, whose courtesy name was Jingheng and hailing from Wu Jin, Jiangsu, was a master of Confucianism, greatly respected by the people, and a mentor to Mr. Chiang Ching-kuo. Mr. Wu passed away on October 30, 1953, in Taipei, and before his death, he requested a sea burial in the waters of Kinmen. On December 1 of the same year, Mr. Chiang Ching-kuo personally escorted his ashes to Kinmen for the sea burial at ShuiTou Bay, and subsequently established the Wu Zhi-hui Memorial Park in his honor, commemorating this literati who contributed to the nation. Wu Zhi-hui Park is situated on the outskirts of ShuiTou Village, beside ShuiTou Pier, and due to its elevated location, it provides a panoramic view of ShuiTou Pier. In addition, one can overlook Xiaokinmen, mainland China, and the Jinlie Channel. The park includes a pavilion, surrounded by Casuarina and two-leaved pine trees, creating a lush area. In the center of the pavilion stands a monument inscribed by President Chiang Kai-shek: "Memorial Pavilion for Mr. Wu Zhi-hui's Sea Burial." Near the seaside area of the park, there is a statue of Mr. Wu Zhi-hui, making it a lovely place to relax and enjoy the seascape.
