Mingyi Old Street Introduction
Ming Yi Old Street is located outside the north gate of Jinmen City and has a history of over four hundred years. It is known as the oldest street in Jinmen, with low buildings lined up on both sides. Originally, there were barriers at the east, west, south, and north exits of the street. Ming Yi Old Street used to be a bustling market in Jinmen City, and locals also refer to it as "Vegetable Buying Street." As the political and economic center of Jinmen shifted from the early Qing Dynasty to Houbu, the street gradually declined. To preserve the memories of Jinmen's first street, three buildings on Ming Yi Old Street have been transformed into a storytelling museum, showcasing the lifestyle of common people in the past, with detailed descriptions of beliefs, agriculture, and daily life. Huang Tianyou Memorial Hall: Mr. Huang Tianyou went to Singapore to study medicine when he was young and returned to settle in Jinmen at the age of twenty-nine. Initially, he rented a place on Mofan Street to practice medicine but later moved back to the Western-style house in Jinmen City. He passed away at the age of forty-one due to enteritis, leaving behind three sons and one daughter along with his second wife, Chen Qing, to take care of the house. The Western-style house has fallen into disrepair over the years, with leaks during rain. Chen Qing's eldest son built a new-style house next to the Western-style house to live in, while the historical house hopes for government assistance for repairs to avoid collapsing.
