Taihu Recreation Area Introduction
The Taihu Recreation Area includes Taihu, the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Park, Rong Garden, the Yu Dawei Memorial Hall, and the 823 War Museum, covering approximately 45 hectares. Taihu, originally known as "Huanglong Reservoir," is the largest artificial freshwater lake in Kinmen, supplying domestic water and irrigation for farmers in the Jincheng area. The expansive lake surface is majestic, and the ripples created by the wind always attract the attention of passersby. The lake has three islands that are home to many birds, and the surrounding area is also frequented by cute otters. In the early morning, Taihu appears dreamlike amidst the thin mist, with dense flowering plants lining the lakeside. Walking along the lakeside trail, visitors can fully enjoy the beautiful scenery of the lake and mountains, or relax and chat in the pavilions, providing a rare moment of leisure. Planning a half-day visit to nearby Rong Garden and the 823 War Museum is also a great option! The Chiang Kai-shek Park encompasses both the entire Taihu and Rong Garden areas. The park features shady pine forests, picturesque lake and mountain views, lush green lawns, and includes a lakeside walking trail, children's sports park, stone sculptures, and small bridges, making it ideal for families to enjoy recreation and appreciate the surrounding natural scenery.
