Formosa Plastics Museum Introduction
Formed in 1954 with the establishment of Taiwan Plastics Corporation, Formosa Plastics Group started with a daily production of four tons of PVC powder, marking the smallest production scale in the world at that time. Through decades of hard work and overcoming numerous challenges, it has become one of the largest PVC powder producers globally. This endeavor not only sparked the initial growth of Taiwan's petrochemical industry but also greatly stimulated the thriving development of the plastic processing industry, contributing significantly to the nation's economic development. Formosa Plastics Group's diversification began with the plastics industry and gradually expanded into petrochemicals, fibers, textiles, electronics, transportation, heavy industry, energy, automotive, and biotechnology, while also extending its overseas investment activities. Throughout its development, adhering to the principle of "taking from society, giving back to society," the group has also initiated medical and educational public welfare projects to give back to the community, making it one of the largest private enterprises in the country today. To document the struggles and growth of the enterprise and to create a complete collection of relevant artifacts from its development process—presenting the cultural essence of Formosa Plastics Group—the "Formosa Plastics Group Museum" has been established. This aims to serve as an information center for the sustainable development of the enterprise, passing on its spirit while also hoping that the public can appreciate the overall development journey of Formosa Plastics Group.
