Formosa Plastics Group Museum Introduction
Formed in 1954 as Taiwan Plastics Corporation, Formosa Plastics Group began with a production of four tons of PVC powder per day, marking the world’s smallest known production scale. After decades of hard work and overcoming numerous challenges, it has become one of the largest PVC powder producers globally. This not only sparked the budding opportunities for Taiwan's petrochemical industry but also stimulated the robust development of the plastic processing industry, contributing significantly to the nation's economic development. The diversified development of Formosa Plastics Group started with the plastics industry and gradually expanded into petrochemicals, fibers, textiles, electronics, transportation, heavy industry, energy, automotive, biotechnology, and more, while also broadening overseas investment efforts. Throughout its business development, the group has embraced the principle of "taking from society and giving back to society" by investing in social welfare initiatives such as healthcare and education, making it one of the largest private enterprises in the country. In order to document the company's struggles and growth journey, as well as to collect related artifacts from its development process to present the cultural essence of Formosa Plastics Group, it has planned to establish the "Formosa Plastics Museum." It aims to serve as an information center for sustainable corporate development, inheriting the company's spirit, while also enabling the public to understand the overall journey of Formosa Plastics Group.
