Formosa Plastics Group Museum Introduction
Formed in 1954 as Taiwan Plastic Company, Formosa Plastics Group began with the daily production of four tons of PVC powder, representing one of the smallest production scales in the world. After decades of effort and overcoming numerous challenges, it has become one of the largest PVC powder producers globally. It not only sparked the initial development of Taiwan's petrochemical industry but also fueled the flourishing growth of the plastic processing industry, contributing significantly to the nation's economic development. Formosa Plastics Group's diversification commenced with the plastics industry and gradually expanded into petrochemicals, fibers, textiles, electronics, transportation, heavy industries, energy, automobiles, biotechnology, and beyond, while also venturing into overseas investments. Throughout its development, the group has adhered to the principle of "taking from society, giving back to society," initiating social welfare projects in healthcare and education to benefit the public, making it one of the largest private enterprises in Taiwan today. To document the company's struggles and growth, and to create a complete collection of artifacts related to its development, the "Formosa Plastics Group Museum" has been established. This museum aims to serve as an information center for the sustainable development of the company, inheriting the corporate spirit, and hopes that the public can appreciate the overall development history of Formosa Plastics Group through this initiative.
