Formosa Plastics Museum Introduction
Formed in 1954, Formosa Plastics Corporation began with a production of four tons of PVC powder per day, marking the world's smallest production scale. After decades of effort and overcoming various challenges, it has become one of the largest PVC powder producers globally. This company not only sparked the initial development of Taiwan's petrochemical industry but also stimulated the growth of the plastic processing industry, contributing significantly to the nation's economic development. The diversification of Formosa Plastics' development, which started with the plastic industry, has gradually expanded into petrochemicals, fibers, textiles, electronics, transportation, heavy industry, energy, automotive, and biotechnology, while also exploring overseas investments. Throughout its corporate journey, it adheres to the principle of "taking from society, giving back to society," and has initiated social welfare projects in healthcare and education, giving back to the public, making it one of the largest privately-owned enterprises in Taiwan today. To document its struggles and growth history as well as to preserve relevant artifacts showcasing its development, Formosa Plastics has established the "Formosa Plastics Museum" with the aim of serving as an information center for sustainable corporate development, passing on the spirit of the enterprise, and fostering public understanding of the overall development history of Formosa Plastics.
