Formosa Plastics Museum Introduction
Formed in 1954 as Taiwan Plastics Corporation, Formosa Plastics Group started with a production of four tons of PVC powder daily, a minimal production scale rarely seen elsewhere in the world. After decades of hard work and overcoming numerous challenges, it has become one of the largest PVC powder manufacturers globally. This achievement not only marked the dawn of Taiwan's petrochemical industry but also spurred the vigorous development of the plastic processing industry, greatly contributing to the country’s economic growth. The diversified development of Formosa Plastics Group began with the plastic industry and gradually expanded into petrochemicals, fibers, textiles, electronics, transportation, heavy industry, energy, automotive, and biotechnology, while also exploring overseas investments. Throughout its development, the company adheres to the principle of "taking from society and giving back to society" and has initiated social welfare projects in healthcare and education, thus giving back to the community. It is currently one of the largest privately-owned enterprises in the country. To commemorate the company’s struggles and growth, and to preserve related artifacts from its development history that reflect the cultural essence of Formosa Plastics Group, the "Formosa Plastics Group Museum" is being established. It aims to serve as a center for sustainable development information and to inherit the corporate spirit while hoping that the public can comprehend the overall development journey of Formosa Plastics Group.
