Black Palace Hotel (Original Store) Introduction
The popular rib shop in Tamsui District, "Black Shop," got its name not because it tricks customers, but because its original location was small and dark, which led local students to affectionately call it that. "Black Shop" specializes in nostalgic rib rice from military dependents' villages. The owner, with his excellent deep-fried rib skills, has kept the shop thriving in Tamsui for over twenty years. The large, substantial rib served on the rib rice is fried to perfection—crispy and fragrant, with a wonderful old-fashioned flavor that is famous far and wide. Even the crew of the film "Within Reach" occasionally comes here for takeout. Besides the delicious large rib, the rice is particularly chewy and soft, paired with pickled vegetables and braised tofu, preserving the flavor of rib rice from the 1950s and 1960s. The affordable price is also commendable; the rib rice costs only NT$90. For those who don’t prefer rib rice, there are noodle options available, and adding a platter of braised side dishes will also let you taste the owner's impressive braising skills.
