Black Palace Hotel (Original Store) Introduction
The popular rib restaurant "Black Shop" in Tamsui is not named "Black Shop" because it tricks customers, but because the original storefront was small and dark, a nickname that has been passed down among local students. The style of Black Shop's rib rice is reminiscent of the nostalgic rib rice found in military dependents' villages. The owner, with his superb frying skills, has stood strong in Tamsui for over twenty years, and the large portion of fried ribs on top of the rice is fragrant and crispy, boasting an exquisite traditional flavor that is famous far and wide. Even the crew of the movie "Close to You" often comes here for takeout. In addition to the delicious large ribs, the rice is specially cooked to be particularly chewy and soft, paired with pickled vegetables and braised tofu, preserving the flavors of rib rice from the 1950s and 1960s. The reasonable price at Black Shop is also commendable, with rib rice priced at only NT$90. If you're not a fan of rib rice, there are noodle options available, and adding some braised side dishes allows you to experience the owner's profound braising skills.
