Ayu Mazuza Introduction
The first shop on Jinshan Old Street specializing in "Matsu" is Ayu Matsu, which has stood in Jinshan for over 20 years. Ayu's mother, Guo Liyun, learned to make Matsu from her mother to help support the family. After honing her skills, she tried to transform the offerings originally meant for deities during worship into a snack enjoyed year-round. She later added various flavors, breaking away from the traditional versions that only used peanuts and sesame, and became a well-known gift in the Jinshan area. Even former New Taipei City mayors Zhou Xiwang and Zhu Lijun are regular customers, and it has become one of the city government's welcome gifts. Initially, Matsus were larger, but they have now been improved to a smaller, bite-sized form that is very popular among young people, bringing a taste of happiness.
