Jinshan Old Street (Jinbaoli Old Street) Introduction
Jinshan Old Street, also known as Jinbaoli Old Street, is the only remaining Qing dynasty old street in the North Coast and has a history of over three hundred years. It used to be the primary distribution center for agricultural products and fish catches for the residents of Jinbaoli. When visiting Jinbaoli Old Street, one must not miss the popular duck stall at the entrance of Guang'an Temple, which exemplifies the unique self-service dining culture of the area. Whether you prefer sweet or savory, Jinshan Old Street can satisfy the taste buds of everyone. Historically, it was a hub for fish catches and agricultural products in the Jinshan area. However, with the change in the traffic flow due to provincial highways, the commercial center of Jinshan shifted to Zhongshan Road, leading to the gradual decline of Jinbaoli Street. This decline, however, has preserved traditional barber shops, rice stores, fabric shops, and grocery stores, giving visitors a taste of old times. The street is well-known for its many historical and popular foods and local specialties, including the "Jinbaoli Duck" right in front of the temple, the "Shizilin Bakery" famous for its crispy pastries, sesame rolls, and handmade egg rolls, the "Ayumi Peanuts" which is particularly popular, fresh fruit handmade ice cream from "Snow Leopard Ice City," and the local specialty "Candied Sweet Potatoes" which you shouldn't miss! Additionally, relaxing in hot springs and walking along the ancient Fish Road are great activities to refresh the body and mind at the beginning of the year.
