Jinbaoli Old Street Introduction
Jinbaoli Old Street, commonly known as Jinshan Old Street, is always bustling with crowds and tourists on weekends, making it a popular destination for local delicacies such as braised pork and oyster omelets, as well as Jinshan specialties like taro cakes and roasted sweet potatoes. One of the most popular stalls is the duck meat stand located at the entrance of Guang'an Temple in the center of the old street, where the self-service dining culture has formed a unique local landscape. "Jinshan Old Street" is the only Qing Dynasty commercial old street on the North Coast. During the Qing Dynasty, the street was as prosperous as present-day commercial cities, serving as a hub for bustling commercial activities. A stroll through the old street reveals many traces of its glorious past, including a few remaining old houses near Cihu Temple, representing traditional "street houses" with long, continuous shop-residential structures featuring both Fujian-style buildings and Western-style facades, as well as narrow deep pavilions. Nearby, there is a traditional Chinese medicine shop, where the age-worn furniture and displayed medicine jars still retain remnants from the Qing Dynasty. Although the days of prosperity are now a thing of the past, thorough preservation efforts have been implemented. The pedestrian zone of the old street features drainage covers engraved with designs unique to Jinbaoli Old Street, showcasing creative ideas aimed at providing visitors with delightful surprises while reminiscing about the vibrant past and savoring the nostalgic scenes of this historic old street.
