Boss Weng, who inherited his unique skills from his uncle, has been running a shaved ice and cold drink shop for 7 years after completing his military service. Among the many products, the snowflake ice and douhua (tofu pudding) are the items that Boss Weng has spent the most time developing. In particular, the ice products have gone through numerous failures and improvements before finally creating their current star product—“Mango Snowflake Ice.” The mango used is freshly selected from Fangshan and Yujing as the main ingredient. In 2007, it won first place in the online voting competition for the best shaved ice held by the Kaohsiung City Government. When it comes to selecting ingredients, many businesses may use less healthy materials for profit, but Boss Weng adheres to his conscience and brand, insisting on using preservatives-free ingredients. He says, “It’s okay to earn a little less as long as consumers eat healthily.” In addition to shaved ice, Pin Yuan Tang Kou Cold Drink Workshop also offers traditional tea drinks, douhua, mung bean soup, barley soup, and more, allowing customers to mix and match as they please. Of course, in response to seasonal changes, during the winter, in addition to cold drinks, there are also products like grass jelly dessert, hot tangyuan (glutinous rice balls), hot douhua, and purple rice porridge available.
