Dingliao Ecological Park Introduction
Located on the northern bank of the Xincheng River in Su'ao, the park features recreational facilities such as pavilions, bird-watching pavilions, walking trails, and fishing platforms. It also encompasses a large wetland area rich in ecological resources, attracting migratory birds. Common bird species include the Red Turtle Dove, Yellow-headed Heron, Barn Swallow, Black-browed Reed Warbler, Little Grebe, and Grey Heron. It is also the endpoint of the southern section of the Yilan Coastal Cycle Path, allowing cyclists to enjoy the scenery alongside water birds at the end of their journey, adding diverse scenery and fun to coastal tourism in Yilan. Adjacent to the park is a Banyan Tree Park, where the large banyan tree’s tangled roots create an impressive sight. The area can be divided into a flat lakeside walking path and an elevated viewing platform with an ecological boardwalk, which features remains of military bunkers. Geographically, it belongs to "fixed dunes," which are no longer affected by sea wave action, being older sand dunes farther inland. It is home to trees such as the Neem and Yellow Bell. From the viewing platform, visitors can overlook the ecological pool wetlands, making it an excellent spot for bird watching and leisurely walks.
