Dingliao Ecological Park Introduction
Located on the north bank of the Xin Cheng River mouth in Su'ao, the park features recreational facilities such as pavilions, bird observation decks, walking trails, and fishing platforms. It also encompasses vast wetlands rich in ecological resources, attracting migratory birds. Common species include the red dove, yellow-headed heron, brown-eared bulbul, black-backed magpie, little grebe, and gray heron. Additionally, it marks the endpoint of the southern section of the Yilan coastal cycling path, allowing cyclists to enjoy the company of waterfowl at the end of their journey, adding diversity and fun to coastal tourism in Yilan. Next to the park is a banyan tree park, where the large banyan trees have intricate roots, creating a remarkable sight. The area can be divided into flat lakeside walking paths and elevated observation platforms and ecological boardwalks, which feature the ruins of military bunkers. Geographically, it is classified as "fixed dunes" that will no longer be affected by ocean wave action, being an old dune situated farther from the coast, with trees such as chinaberry and yellow mallow. The observation platform offers an overlooking view of the ecological pond wetlands, making it an ideal spot for birdwatching and leisurely walks.
