Yilan: Xihe Aquaculture Tourism Factory Introduction
【Evaluation Validity Period: 2024/05/09~2027/05/08】Xihe Aquaculture originated in the 1920s, initially relying on fishing in the waters around Turtle Island. In 1957, grandma established "Xihe Fishing Company," constructing a simple "fish shed" by the beach in Wai'ao to process various aquatic products, such as anchovies, sardines, four-spot tilapia, and squid. In the 1970s, the second generation utilized self-made machines to grade and package processed fish products to enhance quality, distributing them to central and southern Taiwan with small trucks, gradually building a reputation and marketing channels. The third generation relocated the factory to the Lizhe Industrial Park in 2006, transforming it into a modern food processing factory. The raw materials come from the pristine and unpolluted waters off Turtle Island in Yilan and are produced through strict safety processing procedures under HACCP certification. A "Xihe Third Generation Exhibition Hall" was established to showcase Yilan fish shed culture, combining factory tours and leisure activities, producing and selling products directly, developing local OTOP brands, and exploring organic market channels. General Manager Mr. Jian Daxin received the 2011 National "Top Ten Agriculturists" award, the Council of Agriculture's "Aquatic Product Excellence" award, and the Technological Agricultural Enterprises Innovation Award, among others. On January 1, 2021, the newly launched Xihe Aquaculture Exhibition Hall not only upgraded its original production equipment but also reorganized its 65-year corporate story into a brand comic exhibition, hoping to use character comics to help everyone understand the fish processing industry and Xihe in a simple and engaging way. Located in the aquatic-rich Yilan, Xihe Foods provides safe, hygienic, and convenient aquatic products for consumers, offering a new experience of eating fish, and promoting the concept of ocean sustainability to every earth inhabitant who should uphold their responsibility to care for the planet.
