Nanfangao Fishing Port in Su'ao Township, Yilan, has preserved traditional fishing gear and methods from the Japanese colonial period since the 1920s. This gives the local fishing community a unique touch of Japanese fishing culture, passing down many customs, one of which is the "Blessing for Abundant Catch." In the early fishing village, whenever a new boat was launched, friends and family would present a "Abundant Catch Flag" as a way to express their blessings and support for each other. Therefore, the Su'ao Fishermen's Association established the 'Blessing for Abundant Catch Cultural and Creative Center' at the end of 2015, hoping to continue the inheritance and preservation of this meaningful fishing village culture, providing the most authentic fishing village cultural experiences along with the freshest catches and traditional flavors from local mothers. This way, every visiting traveler can embrace our utmost intention of "Health, Happiness, Safety, and Blessings for Abundant Catch." The 360-degree realistic 3D Fish Tornado Tunnel, created by Taiwan's leading 3D illusion artist, Teacher Tu Long, depicts iconic images of Nanfangao Fishing Port, including the prominent species like the knife fish, mackerel, yellowfin tuna, and coral reefs. Through special 3D painting techniques and fluorescent paints, the fish in the 3D Fish Tornado Tunnel come to life, making visitors feel as if they are truly immersed in this marvelous marine world. Nanfang 4Q will utilize the four most abundant fish species from Nanfangao to design and create works, allowing the public to move beyond stereotypes of local fish products and gain a clearer understanding of the region's most distinctive fish species. - Xiao Qing (Mackerel): Energetic and playful, with a cute and bouncy appearance, loves to go camping with its schoolmates, sharing stories around the campfire at night. - Ba Jiao Mei (Swordfish): A colorful little swimmer known for a stylish personality, fond of wearing extravagant outfits that attract attention, but its flashy appearance can be quite fierce. - A Gui (Knife Fish): A bit comical on the outside but passionate and loyal on the inside, it’s a top choice for the modern ideal man, embodying the saying, "I may be ugly, but I'm gentle." - A Lang Ge (Shark): Strong and powerful, but shy and reclusive, it has a keen sense of smell and electric perception. If you play hide and seek with it, it can quickly find your hiding spot.
