Southern Ocean Fishing Port in Su’ao Township, Yilan, has preserved traditional fishing gear and methods since the 1920s during the Japanese colonial government. This has added a distinct flavor of Japanese fishing culture to the local fishing families. Many customs of Japanese fishing culture have been passed down, including the tradition of "blessing for a good catch." In the early fishing village, whenever a new boat was launched, friends and family would present a "big catch flag" to convey their blessings and mutual support. Therefore, at the end of 2015, the Su’ao Fishermen’s Association established the "Blessing for a Good Catch Cultural and Creative Museum" to continue to preserve this heartfelt tradition of the fishing village, providing the most local fishing culture experience along with the freshest catch and the authentic flavors of local fishermen's mothers, so that every visitor can embrace the spirit of "health, happiness, safety, and blessings for a good catch." The "Fish Tornado Tunnel" is a 360-degree realistic 3D tunnel created by Taiwan's leading 3D visual artist, Master Tu Long. It depicts the most representative images of Southern Ocean Fishing Port, including the torpedo scad, mackerel, yellowfin tuna, and coral reef. Master Tu Long employs special 3D painting techniques and fluorescent paints, making the fish in the 3D realistic fish tornado tunnel look lifelike, allowing one to feel as if they are truly in this wondrous ocean world. Southern 4Q will design and create based on the four species of fish most abundantly caught in Southern Ocean to help the public understand local fish products beyond stereotypical impressions, providing a clearer image of the most characteristic fish species of Southern Ocean. Little Mackerel: Lively and playful, with a bouncy and cute appearance, it enjoys camping outings with friends, sharing stories around the campfire at night. Banana Girl (Swordfish): A swimming little beauty with a penchant for dazzling and extravagant costumes, she catches attention, but her stunning looks are not to be trifled with. Mr. Ghost (Torpedo Scad): Appears a bit comical but has a passionate heart and strong sense of loyalty, making him the top choice for modern-day good men; as people say, "I may be ugly, but I am gentle." Mr. Shark: Strong and robust, yet shy and solitary, with a sensitive sense of smell and electric perception; playing hide and seek with him, he can quickly find your hiding place.
