Nanfang'ao Nantian Temple (Mazu, Yuma) Introduction

Residents of Nanfang'ao rely on fishing for their livelihood, enduring the hardships of life at sea and battling turbulent waves. To pray for favorable weather and abundant harvests, many households honor Mazu, seeking peace and safety. Established in 1956, Nantian Temple serves as a center of faith for the community and a spiritual refuge for fishermen. The first floor houses five statues of Mazu from Meizhou, while the second floor features a rare giant jade Mazu sculpted collaboratively by stone carvers Liu Wanzhi and Ye Shuangbao from Hualien. The third floor showcases the world's largest pure gold Mazu statue, weighing 200 kilograms, which has bolstered the temple's fame and attracted numerous worshippers. Visiting Nantian Temple offers not only the opportunity to pay respects and admire the temple but also to experience the local community's deep appreciation for Mazu.
