Wufengqi Waterfall Introduction
Wufeng Qishan is located on the west side of Jiaoxi Township, Yilan County, at the junction of the Xueshan Mountain Range and the Lanyang Plain. From afar, the five peaks stand out prominently in the flatland, resembling five flags on the back of a theatrical warrior. It is a famous scenic area in Jiaoxi Township. The steep Wuqifeng, with an elevation of only 500 meters, features sheer cliffs that are created from very hard sandstone. There are hiking trails between the peaks, leading to the top layer of a three-tier waterfall. The waterfall cascades down a narrow gorge directly over the rocks, with a total length of about 100 meters divided into three tiers. The upper waterfall is approximately 50 meters tall, rushing down from the gorge and breaking through the rocks to form the middle waterfall, which is about 30 meters high. Standing at the "Viewing Pavilion," visitors can enjoy a magnificent view of the rushing waterfall and the lush green valley beyond. The lower waterfall is about 20 meters tall and naturally forms a small pond where the water flows clear and cool. Visiting in the hot summer offers a refreshing escape with the cold spring water. The scenic area features three sand barriers, making it a great place for summer water fun. Viewing Platform - First Layer Waterfall: The first layer of the waterfall is the uppermost tier of the Wufeng Qishan waterfall. Continuing up from the second layer waterfall, the journey becomes more challenging, but upon reaching the top of Wufeng Qishan, the majestic source of the waterfall is a breathtaking sight, higher and longer than the second layer. To allow closer viewing of the waterfall, a "Viewing Platform" near the waterfall provides an awe-inspiring experience, as if there is a waterfall rushing in one’s heart! Viewing Pavilion - Second Layer Waterfall: The second layer, approximately 100 feet long, is the middle tier of the Wufeng Qishan waterfall. Below the second layer waterfall is the "Viewing Pavilion," where visitors can appreciate the grandeur of the waterfall while absorbing the forest's phytoncides. Watching the continuous flow of the waterfall rushing down the cliff into the creek is enchanting, creating a misty and poetic atmosphere. During high water seasons, visitors might even get splashed by the water! Wufeng Pavilion - Third Layer Waterfall: The third layer is the lowest of the Wufeng Qishan waterfall and is easily accessible. Following the trail amidst the fresh air, the third layer comes into view! The water flow here is gentler, and the surrounding trees provide shade. Many visitors take off their shoes and roll up their pants to enjoy playing in the water, experiencing the most refreshing and comfortable temperature.
