Wufengqi Waterfall Introduction
Wufeng Qixian Mountain is located on the western side of Jiaoxi Township in Yilan County, at the junction of the Xueshan Mountain Range and the Lanyang Plain. From a distance, the five prominent peaks rising above the flatlands are exceptionally striking, resembling the five flags on the back of a dramatic martial artist. It is a famous scenic area in Jiaoxi Township, where the steep Wuqifeng rises to an altitude of only 500 meters, but the mountain slopes are steep and characterized by sheer cliffs. This kind of rugged terrain is formed by very hard quartzy sandstone strata. There are hiking trails between the peaks that lead to the top of a three-tiered waterfall, which cascades down the rocky cliffs from a narrow gorge, with a total length of about 100 meters divided into three levels. The upper waterfall is approximately 50 meters high, flowing down from the canyon, and the water then forms the middle waterfall, emerging from the cliff face at about 30 meters, creating a grand spectacle. Standing at the "Viewing Pavilion," visitors can enjoy an excellent view of the rushing water and also gaze into the lush green valley. The lower waterfall, about 20 meters high, naturally forms a small pool with crystal-clear water flowing down, providing a refreshing experience. Visitors come here to escape the sweltering summer heat and enjoy the cool spring water that cleanses the mind. The scenic area features three tiers of sand dams, which are great places for summer water play. The Viewing Platform - First Level Waterfall: The first level of the waterfall is the uppermost tier of the Wufeng Qixian Waterfall. Climbing from the second level waterfall upwards is more challenging, but the breathtaking source of the waterfall is revealed upon reaching the peak of Wufeng Qixian, towering even higher and longer than the second level waterfall. To allow visitors to get closer to the waterfall, a "Viewing Platform" is located near the waterfall, where the sight is awe-inspiring, as if a waterfall were also rushing within the heart! Viewing Pavilion - Second Level Waterfall: The second level waterfall, about 100 feet long, is the middle tier of Wufeng Qixian Waterfall. Below the second level waterfall is the "Viewing Pavilion," where visitors can admire and experience the magnificent force of the waterfall while also absorbing the phytoncides in the mountains. Watching the continuous waterfall cascading down the rocky cliffs and flowing into the stream, with the mist rising, is a poetic and joyous experience. During times of high water flow, visitors may even get splashed! Wufeng Pavilion - Third Level Waterfall: The third level waterfall is the lowest tier of the Wufeng Qixian Waterfall and is very easy to access. Following the trail amidst fresh air, the third level waterfall comes into view! The water flow of the third level waterfall is gentler, surrounded by trees, where many visitors take off their shoes and roll up their pants to play in the water, enjoying the most refreshing and comfortable temperature.
