Wufengqi Waterfall Introduction

Wufeng Qixan is located on the western side of Jiaoxi Township in Yilan County, at the junction of the Xueshan Mountain Range and the Lanyang Plain. From a distance, the five prominent peaks stand out sharply against the flatland, resembling the five flags on the back of a dramatic martial artist. It is a famous scenic area in Jiaoxi Township, with the steep Wuqifeng soaring to an elevation of only 500 meters, yet its rugged cliffs and sheer faces are formed by very hard quartz sandstone layers. There are hiking trails between the peaks, leading to the top of a three-tiered waterfall. This waterfall cascades directly down rocky cliffs from a narrow gorge, with a total length of about 100 meters, divided into three levels. The upper waterfall is approximately 50 meters, rushing down from the canyon, while the water flows through the rocks and forms the middle waterfall, about 30 meters high, creating a magnificent sight. Standing at the "Viewing Pavilion," visitors can enjoy the stunning view of the waterfall's rapid descent and gaze out at the lush green valley. The lower waterfall is about 20 meters tall, forming a small natural pool with crystal clear water flowing smoothly. It provides a refreshing escape from the summer heat, allowing visitors to cool off in the icy spring water. The scenic area has constructed three sedimentation dams, making it a great spot for water play in the summer. Viewing Platform - First Level Waterfall: The first level of the waterfall is the uppermost tier of the Wufeng Qixan Waterfall. Climbing further from the second waterfall along a more challenging path, visitors ascend to the peak of Wufeng Qixan, where they behold the powerful source of the waterfall, which is higher and longer than the second tier. To allow visitors to get closer to the waterfall, there is a "Viewing Platform" where one can marvel at the magnificent scene, as if there’s a waterfall rushing within their heart! Viewing Pavilion - Second Level Waterfall: The second level waterfall, spanning about a hundred feet, is the middle tier of the Wufeng Qixan Waterfall. Below this waterfall, the "Viewing Pavilion" allows visitors to appreciate and feel the grandeur of the rushing water while also absorbing the phytoncides in the mountain air. Watching the endless waterfall cascade down the rock face into the stream, surrounded by mist and poetic beauty, brings joy to both body and mind, and visitors might even get splashed during times of high water flow! Wufeng Pavilion - Third Level Waterfall: The third-level waterfall is the lowest tier of the Wufeng Qixan Waterfall, which is very easy to reach. Along the trail, accompanied by fresh air, visitors slowly ascend, and the third waterfall comes into view! The water flow at this level is gentler, with dense trees surrounding it. Many visitors take off their shoes and roll up their pants to play in the water, experiencing the most refreshing and comfortable temperatures.
