Wufengqi Waterfall Introduction
Wufeng Qishan is located on the western side of Jiaoxi Township in Yilan County, at the junction of the Snow Mountain Range and the Lanyang Plain. From a distance, the five prominent peaks stand out against the flat land, resembling the five banners on the back of a traditional theatrical warrior. It is a famous scenic area in Jiaoxi Township. The steep Wuqifeng, although only 500 meters above sea level, features rugged terrain and sheer cliffs composed of very hard sandstone layers. There are hiking trails between the peaks, leading to the top of a three-tiered waterfall. The waterfall cascades down the rocks from a narrow gorge, with a total height of approximately 100 meters divided into three sections. The upper waterfall is about 50 meters and rushes down from the gorge, while the middle waterfall flows out from the mountain wall, approximately 30 meters high, creating a magnificent sight. Visitors can enjoy the impressive view of the rushing waterfall from the "Viewing Pavilion" while also overlooking the lush green valley. The lower waterfall is about 20 meters, naturally forming a small pool with clear water flowing down, providing a refreshing experience in summer heat with its cool spring water. The scenic area features three sedimentation dams, making it an excellent spot for summer water activities. The Viewing Platform - First Tier Waterfall: The top tier of the Wufeng Qishan waterfall is accessed by continuing upward from the second tier, although the path is more challenging. Climbing to the top of Wufeng Qishan, visitors are greeted by the source of the majestic waterfall, which is taller and longer than the second tier. To allow visitors to get closer to the waterfall, there is a "Viewing Platform" near it, where the sight is breathtaking, as if there is also a waterfall rushing within the heart! The Viewing Pavilion - Second Tier Waterfall: The second tier waterfall is approximately 100 feet long and serves as the mid-tier of the Wufeng Qishan waterfall. Below the second tier waterfall is the "Viewing Pavilion," where visitors can appreciate the grand scale of the waterfall, absorb the phytoncide from the mountain, and watch the continuous waterfall rushing down from the rocky cliffs into the stream, creating a misty and poetic ambiance that brings joy to the soul. When the water volume is high, visitors may even get splashed by the spray! Wufeng Pavilion - Third Tier Waterfall: The third tier waterfall is the lowest of Wufeng Qishan and is very easy to reach. Ascending slowly along the trail amidst the fresh air, the third tier waterfall comes into view! The flow at the third tier is gentler and surrounded by trees. Many visitors remove their shoes and roll up their pant legs to enjoy wading in the water, experiencing the most refreshing and comfortable temperature.
