Shihpai County Boundary Park Introduction

The North-Yi Highway runs east from Xindian City, passing through Daqijiao, Xiaogetou, Pinglin, and Shiding, reaching Yilan Ercheng with a total length of 82.6 kilometers. It is designated as Provincial Highway No. 9, and the section between Sidu and Toucheng is famous for its nine bends and eighteen turns, offering magnificent views and thrilling winding roads. Shihpai County Boundary Park, at an elevation of 538 meters, is located at the mountain pass of the North-Yi Highway and serves as a rest point for travelers, providing a panoramic view of the Lanyang Plain and the Pacific Ocean. The Sidu Nurseries Trail, located at the border of New Taipei City and Yilan County, is one of the important seedling centers in northern Taiwan managed by the Forestry Bureau. It belongs to a subtropical humid climate, and afforestation has systematically taken place in the nearby mountains since the Japanese colonial era. The nursery features bamboo groves, streams, and forest trails, with a moist environment that provides a high-quality habitat for wildlife. The endpoint of the Sidu Nurseries Trail – the viewing platform, allows visitors to overlook the entire Sidu nursery and marks the trail's conclusion. After being transformed into a northern seedling center, Sidu Nursery has successfully rehabilitated over 20 species of trees and shrubs, including Taiwan Red Pine, Niu-Chang (Cinnamomum kanehirae), and Wulai Rhododendron. The guided map indicates that the Sidu Nurseries Trail is 1.4 kilometers long and takes about 100 minutes for a round trip. This trail connects to Shihpai County Boundary Park, allowing visitors to experience forest ecology while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Lanyang.
