Shihpai County Boundary Park Introduction
The Beiyi Highway extends 82.6 kilometers from Xindian City heading east, passing through Daqijiao, Xiaogetou, Pinglin, and Shidong, reaching Yilan's Ercheng. It is part of Provincial Highway 9 and is renowned for the famous "Nine Curves and Eighteen Bends" between Sidu and Toucheng, characterized by its spectacular scenery and thrilling twists and turns. Shihpai County Border Park, situated at an elevation of 538 meters, is located at the highest point along the Beiyi Highway. It serves as a resting point for travelers, offering a breathtaking view of the Lanyang Plain and the Pacific Ocean. The Sidu苗圃 Trail is located at the boundary between New Taipei City and Yilan County and is one of the important seedling centers in northern Taiwan managed by the Forestry Bureau. The area features a subtropical humid climate, and systematic afforestation has been carried out in the nearby mountains since the Japanese colonial period. The nursery includes bamboo groves, streams, and forest trails, providing a rich environment for wildlife. The endpoint of the Sidu苗圃 Trail is a viewing platform that offers a panoramic view of the entire Sidu苗圃. This marks the end of the Sidu苗圃 Trail. Since its transformation into the northern seedling center, the nursery has successfully revitalized over 20 species of trees and shrubs, including Taiwan fir, Chamaecyparis formosensis, and Wulai azalea. According to the guide map, the total length of the Sidu苗圃 Trail is 1.4 kilometers, taking about 100 minutes round trip. This trail connects to Shihpai County Border Park, allowing visitors to experience forest ecology while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Lanyang.
