Shijian County Boundary Park Introduction
The North-Yi Highway runs east from Xindian City, passing Daqijiao, Xiaogetou, Pinglin, and Shiding, reaching Yilan Ercheng, with a total length of 82.6 kilometers. It is part of Provincial Highway 9, and the section between Sidu and Toucheng is famous for its nine bends and eighteen turns, showcasing magnificent scenery that is both winding and thrilling. Shihpai County Boundary Park, at an elevation of 538 meters, is located at the summit of the North-Yi Highway and serves as a rest point for travelers, offering an excellent view of the Lanyang Plain and the Pacific Ocean. The Sidu苗圃步道, situated at the boundary between New Taipei City and Yilan County, is one of the important seedling centers in northern Taiwan managed by the Forestry Bureau. The area is characterized by a subtropical humid climate, and systematic afforestation has been carried out in the nearby mountains since the Japanese colonial period. The seedling nursery features bamboo forests, streams, and forest trails, providing a rich environment for wildlife. The endpoint of the Sidu苗圃步道 is a scenic platform where visitors can overlook the entire Sidu nursery; this marks the conclusion of the trail. After its transformation into a northern seedling center, Sidu has successfully rehabilitated more than 20 species of trees and shrubs, including Taiwan hemlock, Cinnamomum kanehirae, and Wulai azalea. The trail map indicates that the Sidu苗圃步道 is 1.4 kilometers long, with a round trip taking about 100 minutes. This path connects to Shihpai County Boundary Park, allowing visitors to experience the forest ecology while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Lanyang.
