Shihpailiao Park Introduction
The Beiyi Highway starts from Xindian City and heads east, passing through Daqijiao, Xiaogetou, Pinglin, and Shiding to reach Yilan Erchen, with a total length of 82.6 kilometers. It is classified as Provincial Highway No. 9, and the section between Sidu and Toucheng is famous for its winding curves and scenic yet treacherous views. Shihpai County Boundary Park, at an altitude of 538 meters, is located at the crossing point of Beiyi Highway and serves as a rest area, offering a bird's-eye view of the Lanyang Plain and Cape of Good Hope in the Pacific Ocean. The Sidu Nursery Trail is situated at the intersection of New Taipei City and Yilan County and is one of the important seedling centers in northern Taiwan managed by the Forestry Bureau. The area has a subtropical humid climate. The nearby mountainous region has been systematically afforested since the Japanese rule, and the nursery features bamboo groves, streams, and forest trails. The environment within the area is moist, providing a high-quality habitat for wildlife. The endpoint of the Sidu Nursery Trail is the observation platform, where visitors can enjoy views of the entire Sidu Nursery; this is the terminus of the trail. Since the transformation of Sidu Nursery into a northern seedling center, it has successfully rehabilitated over 20 species of trees and shrubs, including Taiwan Red Cypress, Chinese Torreya, and Wulai Azalea. The guiding map indicates that the trail is 1.4 kilometers long, taking about 100 minutes round trip. This trail connects to Shihpai County Boundary Park, allowing visitors to experience forest ecology while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Lanyang.
