Jiuliao Stream Ecological Park Introduction
Jiuliaoxia Ecological Park is located in Lunpi Village, Datong Township. During the Japanese colonial period, due to the abundance of camphor production in Taiwan, many camphor distilleries were built in Yilan, numbered for identification, with this area being the ninth camphor distillery, hence the name Jiuliaoxia. In the past, this area was part of the territory of the Taiwanese indigenous Atayal people. According to legend, Atayal hunters heard the sound of water falling on rocks, which resembled "Ga-ba," thus Jiuliaoxia is also known as Gabaxia. Due to the promotion of ecological conservation, Jiuliaoxia Ecological Park remains unpolluted, with abundant water flow and clear waters from the upstream waterfall, preserving the natural landscape.
