Taoyuan Railway Station Business District Introduction
The Taoyuan Train Station Shopping District refers to the bustling commercial area that extends from Zhongzheng Road in front of the train station to the section of Zhongshan Road near the Jingfu Temple. In just a few intersections, various industries, including fashion, clothing, jewelry, and department stores, converge. After dusk, the area transforms into a vibrant nightlife hub, becoming an excellent place for shoppers to discover great finds. The Taoyuan Station shopping area can be considered a unique district that integrates both old and new cultures. Due to its advantageous location, it has quickly absorbed various businesses, leading to its expansion. The district is constructed around three main segments, offering a theme of shopping, dining, and entertainment: The first segment near the train station is lined with department stores and 3C electronics, creating a boutique department store cluster. The middle segment primarily along Chenggong Road features clothing stores, Chinese and Western cuisine, and cafes to cater to the consumption needs of young people. The last segment centered around Jingfu Temple attracts worshippers to the century-old temple and is surrounded by traditional delicacy and snack vendors, making it a great place to experience the local vitality of Taoyuan. The front segment predominantly follows Zhongzheng Road, extending to Datong Road, Fuxing Road, and Zhonghua Road, and is close to the Taoyuan Train Station and other public transport, making it very convenient for transportation. The district is home to major department stores like Far Eastern FE21, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, and Tongling Department Store, creating a vibrant atmosphere that attracts various chain stores, contributing to the prosperity of the shopping area. In addition to department stores and shops, this area is also near schools and tutoring centers. The mid-section market area extends from Tongling Department Store to Chenggong Road, connecting sports goods and coffee beverages, where young consumers can find sporting brands and a variety of trendy and creative cuisines tucked away in the lanes to meet the dining needs of the flowing crowds. In the last segment centered around Jingfu Temple, traditional old shops and local delicacies have developed due to the influx of worshippers. The over-a-century-old Jingfu Temple is located at the intersection of Zhongzheng Road and Zhongshan Road, known locally as the "Daimiao" (Great Temple); it is not only the most renowned temple in Taoyuan City but is also classified as a national third-level historical site, highlighting its historical value. Next to the temple are several popular snack shops serving duck meat, Meinong rice noodles, oyster vermicelli, meatballs, and rice noodle soup, satisfying the cravings of food lovers. Walking into "Xinmin Street," paved with granite, reveals another distinct scene. Historically known as "Taoyuan's First Street," Xinmin Street has developed a unique historical culture adjacent to Taoyuan Temple. Though it lacks the fame of Daxi Old Street, it holds precious memories for the citizens of Taoyuan. After infusing cultural creativity and street art, it presents a clash yet harmonious aesthetic that, when savored, allows one to feel the unique charm of the lanes.
