Taoyuan Train Station Commercial District Introduction
The Taoyuan Railway Station Front Business District refers to the bustling commercial area that extends from Chengzhong Road in front of the railway station to the Jingfu Temple section on Zhongshan Road. In just a few intersections, various industries such as fashion, apparel, jewelry, and department stores gather, transforming Taoyuan into a vibrant city that never sleeps after dusk, making it an ideal place for enthusiastic shoppers to discover exciting finds and great products. The station front business district can be described as a unique commercial area that blends old and new cultures. Its geographical advantages quickly attracted a variety of businesses, leading to the expansion of the district. The district is structured into three main sections that create a theme of being easy to shop, eat, and have fun: the front section near the railway station is bustling with department stores and electronics shops, forming a cluster of high-end department stores; the middle section focused on Chenggong Road features clothing stores, Chinese and Western cuisine, and coffee shops that cater to the consumption demands of younger people; while the back section centered around Jingfu Temple attracts crowds of worshippers to the century-old temple, and is surrounded by numerous traditional food stalls and eateries, making it a great spot to experience the vibrant local life of Taoyuan. The front section of the business district mainly extends along Chengzhong Road, reaching out to Datong Road, Fuxing Road, and Zhonghua Road, conveniently located near Taoyuan Railway Station and other public transport options, ensuring excellent transportation accessibility. The district boasts major department stores such as Far Eastern FE21, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, and Tongling Department Store, creating a bustling commercial atmosphere that has attracted numerous chain stores, enhancing the prosperity of the area. In addition to department stores and shops, the area is also close to schools and tutoring centers, with the central business district extending from Tongling Department Store to Chenggong Road, connecting sports goods and coffee shops, where young shoppers can find a range of trendy brands and delicious innovative foods hidden in the alleys to satisfy their dining needs. In the back section centered around Jingfu Temple, the area has developed a food zone with traditional old shops and local delicacies due to the influx of worshippers. The Jingfu Temple, which has stood for over a century, is located at the intersection of Chengzhong Road and Zhongshan Road, known locally as "Dà Miào" (Great Temple). It is not only the most famous temple in Taoyuan City but also designated as a national third-level historical site, highlighting its historical significance. Next to the temple, one can find many popular eateries offering duck meat, Mino rice noodles, oyster vermicelli, meatballs, and rice noodle soup, satisfying the cravings of food lovers. Entering the granite-paved "Xinmin Street" reveals another unique atmosphere. Once known as "Taoyuan’s First Street," Xinmin Street has developed a distinct historical culture adjacent to the Taoyuan Great Temple. Despite being less famous than Daxi Old Street, it captures precious memories of Taoyuan's citizens. After incorporating cultural creativity and street art, it showcases a beautiful aesthetic that is both conflicting and harmonious, allowing visitors to savor the unique alleyway charm.
