Taoyuan Light and Shadow Cultural Center (Light and Shadow No. 2) Introduction
Chenggong Elementary School, the century-old temple - Jingfu Temple, and the Taoyuan Fruit and Vegetable Market are all located in the culturally rich old city district, where every corner carries traces of the city's evolution. The Taoyuan Light and Shadow Cultural Center (Taoyuan Light and Shadow Second Hall), situated on Puxin Road, integrates local market culture and combines themes of art, nostalgia, and family-friendly films, becoming an important cultural and artistic hub in the area. Originally established as a senior citizen wellness and recreation center, the Taoyuan Light and Shadow Cultural Center transitioned to an arts center in 2005, and then transformed into a cultural center in 2014, complementing the Taoyuan Light and Shadow Movie Theater (Taoyuan Light and Shadow First Hall) in Matsu, located in Zhongli. The exhibition hall on the first floor hosts three to four themed film exhibitions each year, including illustration exhibitions, International Women's Film Festivals, and art films. The center has also invited renowned theater troupes such as the Apple Theatre, Wuzhouyuan Hand Puppet Theater, Cup Theatre, Ghost Dolls Co., Ltd., and the Crazy Symphony Wind Orchestra, all of which have attracted many participants. Additionally, the performance room serves as a platform for the Taoyuan Community College and schools to hold exhibitions of their results, promoting art with zero distance. The second floor of the center features a newspaper reading area and classrooms for the community college, while the third floor houses a screening room with a total of 200 seats after renovations. Located just 2 kilometers from the Taoyuan Performing Arts Center, the Taoyuan Light and Shadow Cultural Center similarly focuses on promoting arts education, and with a focus on film culture, it not only plans special screenings, short films, and graduation film exhibitions for college students, but also provides space for emerging directors and artists to showcase their images. Moreover, summer film activities are organized to allow families to enjoy wonderful movie-watching experiences together.
