Taoyuan Light and Shadow Cultural Center (Light and Shadow No. 2) Introduction
Cheng Kung Elementary School, the century-old temple - Jingfu Temple, and the Taoyuan Fruit and Vegetable Market are all located in the culturally rich old town, where every corner carries the traces of the city's evolution. The Taoyuan Light and Shadow Cultural Center (Taoyuan Light and Shadow No. 2) on Puxin Road integrates the local market culture, combining themes of art, nostalgia, and family-oriented films, becoming an important cultural art venue in the area. Originally an activity center for senior citizens, the Taoyuan Light and Shadow Cultural Center was transformed into the Taoyuan City Arts Center in 2005 and later became a cultural center in 2014, shining in harmony with the Taoyuan Light and Shadow Cinema (Taoyuan Light and Shadow No. 1) located in Zhongli Matsu New Village. The exhibition hall on the first floor of the center plans three to four themed film exhibitions each year, such as illustration exhibitions, international women's film festivals, art films, etc. It has also invited well-known theater groups such as the Apple Theatre, Wuzhou Garden Puppet Show, Cup Theatre, Ghost Doll Co., Ltd., Crazy Beautiful Symphony Band, and Baiyou Theatre to perform, attracting many attendees to each event. Additionally, the performance hall also provides a platform for community colleges and schools in Taoyuan to hold成果發表展, creating a promotion platform for art with zero distance. The second floor of the center features a newspaper reading area and community college classrooms, while the third floor houses a screening room, which has been newly renovated to accommodate nearly 200 seats. Located just 2 kilometers from the Taoyuan Performance Center, the Taoyuan Light and Shadow Cultural Center focuses on promoting art education with a core emphasis on film culture, planning special screenings, micro-films, and graduation film exhibitions for college students' film works, and providing exhibition space for emerging directors and artists. It also organizes summer movie activities for families to enjoy wonderful viewing moments together.
