Taoyuan Light and Shadow Cultural Museum (Light and Shadow No. 2) Introduction
Chenggong Elementary School, the century-old temple - Jingfu Temple, and the Taoyuan Fruit and Vegetable Market all contribute to the rich cultural tapestry of the old city area, where every corner reflects the trajectory of urban evolution. Located on Puxin Road, the Taoyuan Light and Shadow Cultural Center (Taoyuan Light and Shadow No. 2) integrates local street market culture and combines themes of art, nostalgia, and family-oriented films, making it an important cultural and artistic venue in the area. Originally a senior wellness activity center, the Taoyuan Light and Shadow Cultural Center was transformed into a cultural center in 2005 and later rebranded as a cultural museum in 2014. It complements the Taoyuan Light and Shadow Movie Theater (Taoyuan Light and Shadow No. 1) in Matsu New Village in Zhongli. The exhibition hall on the first floor organizes three to four film-themed exhibitions annually, including illustration exhibitions, international women's film festivals, art films, and more. It has hosted renowned theater troupes such as the Apple Theatre, Wuzhou Garden Puppet Show, Cup Theatre, Ghost Child Co., and Crazy Beauty Symphony Wind Band, all of which have attracted many participants. Additionally, the exhibition room serves community colleges and schools for their presentation exhibitions, creating a platform for promoting art without barriers. The second floor contains a newspaper reading area and classrooms for community colleges, while the third floor houses a screening room, which has been renovated to accommodate nearly 200 seats. Just 2 kilometers away from the Taoyuan Performing Arts Center, the Taoyuan Light and Shadow Cultural Center focuses on promoting arts education, centered around film culture. It not only plans special screenings, micro-films, and graduation film exhibitions for higher education institutions' audiovisual works but also provides exhibition space for emerging directors and artists, while also organizing summer movie activities for families to enjoy quality viewing time together.
